Beejoir- Lies, by slowmo on Nov 23, 2007 17:25:39 GMT 1, This is an immediate image, good in context, not so good out. On its own, its poor, a bit like this. If I had pasted this up in Bangkok when the military took rule, would this now be a better piece?

Beejoir- Lies, by nacional on Nov 23, 2007 18:33:53 GMT 1, But the Beejoir piece cannot be removed from its context as I'm now aware of the context. I can't undo something that I know. Also, it has universality: I thought it was one historical character, Bongo thought another, turns out it was neither, or both, or none at all. The fact that Beejoir sent it out with reference to a specific occurence does not mean that it is restricted to that occurence.
Anyway, once art has been produced it is out of the hands of the artist and belongs to the public who are entitled to interpret it as they like.
Knowing what Beejoir was getting at informs me but I can take that information and either ignore it, add to it, or do what I want.
Blah blah blah

Beejoir- Lies, by Gentle Mental on Nov 23, 2007 18:46:21 GMT 1, it doesn't feel like art, it feels editorial. but i like it, cuz it's rather intense - that's beejoir's strength, not aesthetics, but that crazy freaky streak.

Beejoir- Lies, by Harveyn on Nov 23, 2007 21:55:39 GMT 1, This is a strong piece the interpretation of which is of course influenced by definition and understanding. Both of which may add or detract from one's appreciation. But that should be true of all art. For me pieces that make me contemplate the reason for their existence can be the most rewarding of all, even though they may have first appeared to have little to offer. Imagery should only be a one element of what a piece of art has to offer. IMO.

That is so what i have been trying to say...
I love the fact it is so brash. When so many people are willing to give up on having an opinion due to political correctness. I want this print ;D

Beejoir- Lies, by craigf on Nov 23, 2007 23:28:35 GMT 1, One of the reasons I spend time on this forum is the diverse views and the understanding / information relating to artists and pieces. For me context is very important and these posts have opened up a higher level of understanding for me in relation to this piece. Both SBFO and TS had contexts I understood. I still believe they were stronger images than this one, but I can now appreciate it more

I agree that SBFO and TS were much more powerful. Lies is a little less obvious, but none of them have the depth behind LV child which is a class piece of work.

Beejoir- Lies, by paulypaul on Nov 23, 2007 23:42:43 GMT 1, Tastes a funny old thing. I hate Lies - I think it is truly pointless. It's reportage on a paricular event. I have newspapers for that. SBFO was, for me, a little bit sixth form, as was LV Child. TS is a superb, multi level piece of thought provoking art. Quite brilliant. If anyone has one for sale at a reasonable price, please PM me...

Beejoir- Lies, by morrissey1 on Nov 23, 2007 23:51:31 GMT 1, do we know if the word "lies" is going to be hand-sprayed by Beejoir?

Beejoir- Lies, by Deleted on Nov 26, 2007 5:36:41 GMT 1, it seems that this print is going to split people right down the middle. just like when Dylan rolled out the electric guitar to boos and cheers at the same time. I mentioned before this print has grown on me and after seeing 'Organics1' test spray framed I cant wait to get my hands on one. if Organics or anyone here knows where that wicked picture is of the framed print,i think it needs to be posted on this thread. It is Intense.
