Dreweatts Urban Art Sale Novice Guide, by skitch on Jun 12, 2008 9:08:48 GMT 1, I was hoping to head down to this to see what the auction market is like, is anyone else heading down?
it says it starts at 6pm, is it best to turn up much earlyer?
or are these type of auctions just overrated?
any other tips?
cheers

Dreweatts Urban Art Sale Novice Guide, by Deleted on Jun 12, 2008 9:35:14 GMT 1, I reckon Dreweatts have done a good job with their marketing and i hope the sale is a great success for everyone. Almost every auction i have ever attended has started late.

Can't find out what times they're open from/until.

Dreweatts Urban Art Sale Novice Guide, by Harveyn on Jun 16, 2008 10:11:55 GMT 1, Have to agree pimp. Wonder whether the strong pieces will pull the weak pieces up or vice versa. In auction results terms that is. Obviously the quality of the work is the quality of the work.

Dreweatts Urban Art Sale Novice Guide, by buffin on Jun 16, 2008 12:52:47 GMT 1, I think Dreweatts have done a great job marketing this sale. I went to both the Selfridges and Paintworks preview and there was quite a buzz. Am sure prices will do well for the smaller and middle estimate pieces. Remains to be seen if this is the sale for rarer Banksy and Neates. Will be interesting to see what Laz makes of it after their initial comments saying the whole thing was a travesty.
Only concern for me are the relatively unknown artists who have one or two works in the sale. If there is little interest will they be allowed to fail? Surely their galleries or supporters will not allow it to happen?

Do you think?? I've seen precious little outside these forums. I was speaking to friend who works in the City who might be interested if he knew about it, he said he's heard nothing at work yet they were all talking about the Bonhams one

Well the Paintworks preview was on TV down here. The Selfridges viewing was packed when I went on a quiet midweek and perhaps your friend in the city missed the Independent yesterday

Perhaps he's too busy dealing with the credit crunch
