Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by Deleted on Sept 16, 2007 23:57:50 GMT 1, the empty building next door is being turned into flats and they have decided to make a focal point out of the mild, mild west. they are going to out some kind of protective glass in fornt of it. so the local paper says. as you can tell by my avator its my fav banksy piece. although i really love 1 or 2 of his very recent street pieces nearly as much. i also spent a few too many nights in the Lakota Discoduster. happy days

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by jmcy9999 on Sept 17, 2007 0:18:29 GMT 1, Lakota! Now there was club, spent some of the best nights of my life there......makes me remember 4am taxi rides back down the M4 wondering why the radio was playing the same tune over and over - only to realise 30 minutes later that it was just my imagination making music out of the sound of the car engine!

It wasn't Lakota, it was that real dingy little club down the alleyway behind that Banksy. I think it was called Club Loco or sumit.
Very messy indeed.

Funny as feck!! ;D +1
There was a 24 hr cafe on Gloucester Rd right by those 2 clubs. I went in there one morning asking all my mates.
"What the feck's the matter with this orange" that i'd picked up at the counter.
I thought it was melting!!!......it wasn't obviously

CASTROS! Think it's still going.
You certainly are on a slippery slope if you find yourself in there!

Was that at the bath and west or that shitty little venue in the town?
I was too young for when the big bands used to play the bath and west ground.
Altho i did see Gary Glitter there one Xmas
It's a great place for bands to play but unfortunately it's governd by a army major and his old boys who just want to keep it for agricultrual shows and the like. They currently only allow something like 2 live events a year and that goes to gay dance shit like slammin vinyl (whatever!).

Life is a drink and you get drunk when your young but you find out life isnt like that its so hard to understand you think the world is your oyster but your futures a clam
How f***n good is that lyric

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by Hugs on Sept 18, 2007 22:22:20 GMT 1, "From this window i've seen the whole world pass, from dawn to dusk i've heard the last laugh laughed, seen enough tears to wash away this street,i've heard wedding bells chime and a funeral march and as one band finishes the other one starts" When your young is good..great lyrics, prefer the b side though, smithers Jones.
Also like those lyrics from "who is the 5 oclock hero"

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by Hugs on Sept 18, 2007 23:15:18 GMT 1, Weller is the master a painting pictures with his lyrics, very few British songwriters can do that and tell a story of the time. I've seen Weller a good few times and had him sat on my old 65 Vespa outside the Colston Hall in Bristol (got a nice signed pic from him on it as well) Top bloke. And I agree..The Jam are the best band

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by speedyli on Sept 19, 2007 23:06:16 GMT 1, The German issue you talk of got into the charts, i think thats quite unusual for an import, Polydor didn't put it out in the UK until two years later.
Foxton & Buckler are now touring under the name From The Jam They play Brighton on the 21st of December, the same Venue as The last ever Jam gig, The Brighton Centre. I wonder if Mr W. will join them..... I've got my ticket!

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by Hugs on Sept 19, 2007 23:28:51 GMT 1, theres no way Weller will ever play with them again, they had a bitter court action that Weller settled out of court and i'm sure i read that he's not spoken to either Foxton or Buckler since 82. When you think about why would he? It's his lyrics/music etc anyways and he was the creative force behind the jam, shame they wont play together as i for one would pay good money to see 'em. I did see and book a brillaint tribute band (The Jamm) years ago and ran a show in Bristol, really good band, play a few small faces tracks as well and the odd album track,if you get chance to see 'em they're very good,I know they play the fleece in Bristol once in a while, have a look on their site, been a good few years since I saw em ..they could have split now!

On the subject of Foxton, lets not forget Foxton's years with SLF.... another great band IMO.
oh, and i also managed to see Foxton a few times when he teamed up with Jake Burns, JJ Burnel and Pauline Black as 3 Men & Black. I spent about an hour in the bar before one of the gigs with Pauline and she is truly a lovely person with a great sense of humour
