Has a been a long time fave of mine and amazing to still be there I suppose

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by mbv on May 21, 2007 22:33:02 GMT 1, I'm feeling quite smug as I nominated Mild Mild West as a landmark, although not surprised it made shortlist. Keep up the voting as we need to try and protect at least some of Banksy's work from redevelopment or heavy handed workmen.

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by Hugs on May 22, 2007 8:26:23 GMT 1, It's a really great piece and i hope the council preserve it ( somehow) along the lines of the Park st piece. It'd be a shame with all the redevolpment that is going on down there that it could be lost at some point very soon.
Saj..As for Bling bling..great piece, is it by Banksy?

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by jellya on May 22, 2007 10:31:13 GMT 1, I agree, it would be an absolute travesty if this was to go in some redevelopment foul up. The council here are getting hotter on preserving what little there is left in the city but that has still led to some horrendous mistakes in the last few months.
Thanks for voting! Keep them coming in. ;D

That Xenz is great too. There's another huge one on the front of a hairdressers in St. George, next time I'm in that part of town I'll take a pic.

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by Hugs on May 22, 2007 14:33:58 GMT 1, That one is opposite the Fire engine pub for those in Brizzle that want to take a peek, while were on a Xenz tip..take a wander round to york street/James street in St Werburghs,Xenz painted up the gable end of house along there on the main road, you can't miss it! If the bushes etc are growing up,wander over and take a good look up close. If your coming from Muller road end,go nder the railway bridge, past the pub (Victoria) and it's along on the left. "The force is strong with this one!!"
Dont forget the Wilder st piece he did with Nick Walker EElus and Mr Jago..anyway back to the voting!

That land has been redundant for years, but (i think) just recently just been fenced off, if so that's worrying.

Banksy • Mild Mild West, Street Art in Bristol, by Adamski on May 24, 2007 8:28:41 GMT 1, Design statement states: 'The existing Banksy painting on 76 Stokes Croft is retained as a feature within the Winter garden'...
It's great that they are retaining the painting, but it looks like it will be enclosed within their "winter garden" (which to give them credit, is made of glass). Still, it's unlikely to be clearly visible from the road anymore.
I suspect they had to keep it to get planning permission and have made the garden a "public space" in order to appease the council. No more massive Banksy to look at from the bus down Cheltenham road.
On a positive note, enclosing it will preserve it and keep it away from the weather...so pluses and minuses.
That's my interpretation of the plans...might have misread them though
