added this one too, looks like these are indeed prints for sale... $55.

Had to read up on Jasper Johns (as I'm not into pop-art or "Neo-Dadaism"... whatever that is!) even with my newfound knowledge I still find this weak and fairly ugly. Quite suprised it's being sold as a print!

edit: I know the target is an "iconic" image of his and all but the red version just makes me think of flava flav

But never heard of Jasper Johns, WTF! People need to read up on contemporary art a little bit - there is a whole world out there outside this little scene. Johns is one of the foremost US painters of the 20th Century.

Very strange.

Jasper Johns is a legend well till Duchamp's anti-art started to influence his painting in the late 70s and 80s. Some of his map paintings are just sublime.

Jasper Johns is a legend. Love his work. Don't see the point in this print though. Maybe it's just a personal nod of respect to the fella, but still wouldn't want it on my wall.

Can't come into this world knowing everything pez, I'd rather admit I hadn't the faintest and go and look it up than pretend I knew all along. If Jasper Johns has never come up in conversation in my 21years, given I never went to art school or had arty family or friends, there's not much to be done about it.

Well said Junta. My mom introduced me to the huge world of art. And, I'm with Angel on this one--I wouldn't like this hanging on my wall. I like Rauschenberg, Miro, Calder & Lichtenstein too, but I wouldn't want their mugs on my wall. Their art, that's another thing.

I understand the use of target on this print. Why not American flag? Maybe just a personal preference of Shep's? Or too complicated to execute?

I like the print and hope it will be made into a series.

What do you mean there's not much to be done about it? YOu could go to the library or bookstore and read up on contemporary art. Or even go to some museums!? I mean you don't have to if you don't want to, but don't act like the world has to hand you everything worth knowing about.

As has been observed there is plenty of stuff to do about it. I suggest a little bit of reading about contemporary art will enrich your life. A good starting point is Matthew Collings This is Modern Art. Under a tenner at amazon and filled with enough starting points to make you want to go and explore the world of contemporary art even further. Stick it on your xmas list!

Never heard of Jasper Johns... One of the greatest American painters of this century!!
His American flag is one of the most Iconic paintings to come out of the US for years! Also Johns was using spray paint in the 1960's. He's n absolute legend!
