I enjoyed the day, met up with some friendly faces old and new. The fair itself was interesting in parts. as already mentioned by a few on this thread the top floor was by far the most interesting. the Middle and ground floors were mainly unappealing to my taste. the best stuff was situated on the side that the BRP stand was, there was loads of amazing stuff there. i could have spent a fortune. i think the best print in the place was the Nick Walker print.
the pick of the show for me though was an artist called Oona Hassim, who's 3 canvases all from the 'liverpool street series' were stunning and i think the cheapest canvases in the whole place or very close to it. if the walker print wasnt so nice, i'd have bought the larger of the 3. her work feels like a cross between Rowdy's abstract stuff and Lowry. so much energy, with loads going on. i could have looked at them all night.

that blek canvas was one of the shoddiest piece's of stretched canvas I've had the misfortune to set my eyes on - cost a fortune and created with primary school art supplies

main conclusion of last night - London Art Fair is for the rich and misinformed

Good to meet you yesterday G-Man! I was the other guy in glasses and a the dreaded suit (number 69 in que). Had to leave the que at 17.00 but managed to get back around 8.30 and pay for the print.

The BRP guys looked pretty exhaused by the end of the day but they managed to process the payment okay. Had that cup of tea when I got home, receipt on the table in front of me

Really enjoyed seeing all the Faile stuff on show. Gallery prices of course but lovely pieces none the less.

Think Badrobot was jesting about the wine served up last night funyoung. I certainly was. I wouldn't take everything too literally on here. For the record the London Art Fair is a good place to go and has some great art on show but I think everyone would agree it also has a lot of crap and a huge number of idiots attending. Some of the conversations I overheard last night were almost out of a comedy sketch parodying the rich art snob.

I'm sure pocketing 40k+ helped soften the burden of a long day

best piece of the show for me was the 1p's that together made an image of Gordon Brown....well no...actually the conversation that group of hoorays were having in front of it...

(anyone who saw how much of the free plonk I put away will know whether I was jesting or not )

Was good to meet loads of new people yesterday, i was about 12th in the queue. Met some cool people drank some beer talked about art and then saw some amazing art in the show. was a fantastic day! I didnt get anyones forum names but hi to the guys i met! and cheers for the ticket ;-)!!! PM me if you got any other pieces from the show?

not quite, they told people not to queue before 4pm.
I very nearly took the afternoon off to go as I love the print.
Bloody glad i didn't as it would have been a total waste of time.

I bet a least half get resold.

yes they did say this, but anyone who has gone for a release before will know that these are only guidelines as often the gallery itself does not know what will happen?! BRP did what they could as you have to remember it wasnt thier show, they could not be seen to encourage a queue/disruption outside the event. the info they gave need some reading between the lines, but i tend to make my own judgments and i thought getting there early was the best way to get a print . . . and it worked.

i think they handled it great and the staff at the BDC where great aswell!

spanksy that is great for you and a good call, I queued at the BRP print show and made my own decision as to when to arrive as BRP didn't put any conditions on the time, same with LTS, I choose not to queue as there was no time stipulation and it was pretty clear that people were going to queue very early for this one.

My point is they said not to queue before 4 as it wasn't their gallery and the gates would be closed and BDC security would turn you away. When given specific instructions why should you have to read between the lines.

Just think it's all a little unfair for people who travelled a great distance to arrive in the afternoon only to find they were all gone 3.5hrs before you were supposed to arrive.

I expect they handled the people there well, why not £47,500 is a lot of cash, why not be nice.

I must agree.

If BRP had not emailed me telling me not to queue before 4, then I would have got there earlier. As it was, I travelled for 3 hours to get there to stand no chance of getting one.

Don't get me wrong, I had a good day out and would still have gone, knowing that I would not have got a Walker print but the irony is that by following BRP's instructions I had zero chance of getting a print.
