No mate, Lazarides is CBGB and Banksy is definitely the ramones! Kind of puts it in better perspective eh ;D

Nick Walker โข The Empire's State, by hero on Jan 13, 2009 23:15:41 GMT 1, ..the best peices at the show were the nick walker print (sold out ) and a joe black style picture of gordon brown, made out of discoloured pennies ! H That was probably the Jonathan Yeo piece that Laz were selling in NYC last October.
that was great , bit more accurate now though...for anyone thinking of going, upstairs is best, and there are bits in the back

Nick Walker โข The Empire's State, by danmuppet on Jan 13, 2009 23:18:14 GMT 1, just got back from the show. the quing was no probs- met loads of great forum members. the art was average in the show imo! the print is amazing, but star of the show for me was MATT SMALL. brilliant work mate! also well done to all at brp for another well organised event.

Good Show as always. Nice to see Warhol and Ben Nicholson and many other great artists all under one roof. The queue at 1.30

Nick Walker โข The Empire's State, by Deleted on Jan 14, 2009 0:16:28 GMT 1, I got there at 5 and was obviously gutted. It was good to bump into a few familiar faces from the PoW open days. John (who bagged himself a hat full on the Sunday PoW day, but also missed out today) and two familiar faces who had queued from 9 o'clock today and bagged the Nick Walker print (wh have I got it into my head that one of you is a hair-dresser?)
All in all, disappointing to have missed out on the NW print - it does look good - and not much else to get me excited, but a good evening all the same.

Nick Walker โข The Empire's State, by georgec7 on Jan 14, 2009 0:47:34 GMT 1, Hi - just got back - number 100 went about 1pm - I arrived at 1.15 - so undeterred decided to have a couple of beers in the Walkabout- and then had a pizza in Ask next door to BDC. Serves me right really - sat next to a table of 4 people telling each other how they'd given false names for their +1s so that they could get two prints and get them on ebay asap. I admire BRPs integrity, but they are never going to get past the scumbag flippers who are there to make a quick buck - whichever way you look at it. Some great art that I would never have otherwise seen - oh and a few glasses of wine - the world doesn't revolve around Mr Walker thankfully - and we should all remember that IMO!

Nick Walker โข The Empire's State, by Sacked... on Jan 14, 2009 1:48:31 GMT 1, I went today early to check it out but the queue put me off and I probably didn't like it that much. A bit of a shame about that misinformation from BRP side but I suspect they didn't know what to expect. Anyway I manage to get inside and check the exhibition whilst it was almost empty. Some really nice art however majority was an average (in my eyes ) Usual suspects everywhere although was a bit surprised by the last year pricing. If you have a chance go and check it out for yourself (daytime if possible). To those who queued from 10 o'clock - well done you totally deserve it and I hope you will enjoy it for the years to come Where their any Cyclops prints there?
Yep . ogs from ยฃ850-6000.00 ( i think one was at the 'white niose' show and one from pow open day and an older one.)

Nick Walker โข The Empire's State, by rosstierney on Jan 14, 2009 3:13:37 GMT 1, what a day ;D
i took steve's (discoduster) advice & booked the earlier train from liverpool while grantb kindly kept me updated via phone/text
when he got there at 11:00 there were 50 people in the queue, needless to say i was worried (i'd paid ยฃ100 for the train)
i got there just before 12:30 & was one of the last 10 to succeed (so much for 16:00 but really, what did you expect? especially if you're familiar with the 'life's too short' release)
it seemed well organised with brp only bringing 100 blank invoices to avoid a cock-up but i'm dissapointed to hear georgec7's encounter
i got talking to a nice chap named neil (you lurker ) who had come up from devon. he made the +2 hour queue a pleasure so if he's reading, thanks mate.
it was also a nice gesture from brp to let us leave the queue to get hot drinks (it got pretty cold at one point)
at 15:00 we were given our invoices & told to come back any time before 18:00 so off i went to the sweet toof exhibition which was
i got back at 16:45, queued for another hour then went in to pay for my print
i absolutely loved the fair itself, with 3/4 of the top floor bursting with great art (the bottomless wine was a nice touch too )
i don't know who said there was a recession? by 19:00 there were red dots everywhere!
it was nice to meet you sacked/toothfairy
highlight
meeting sir peter blake at the cca gallery stand who kindly signed a hand out for me

Great day
I seem to remember upstairs being better than downstairs, Peter Blake being very friendly, Alexander McQueen in a puffer jacket and Pure Evil with a dashing moustache. Headache now...
Many thanks to Retrome for the ticket!
