Banksy Tree Mural • North London, by Art Attackkk on Mar 27, 2024 9:03:31 GMT 1, Not wanting to come across too Alan Titchmarsh, but is the tree still alive? Looks like the tree has been pollarded and there are some spindly twigs that should sprout leaves shortly and then there should be some shoots from the thicker branches after a while. Just curious as to how this will look when leaves obscure all or part of the green washing? Eventually I guess you’ll just see the spraying figure in the summer (that is until someone attempts to remove the whole wall) 🙄

Banksy Tree Mural • North London, by PC Baby on Mar 27, 2024 17:32:18 GMT 1, Looks like Islington Council has also put up a plywood-framed perimeter-fence all around the tree's immediate circumference, with perspex windows to look through (as seen on BBC London News this lunchtime). Now onlookers are able to see the perspex wall through additional perspex, all shiny and distracting - that is, if they manage to see past the plywood that covers most of the tree!
Nothing like the lovely artwork Banksy created - what a shambles!
Hope the rain does its bit to alter the top part of the painted wall, which seems to remain open to the elements..

Sick Of More Gap.

Banksy Tree Mural • North London, by mojo on Mar 28, 2024 1:49:47 GMT 1, The continuing saga of 'The (Consent) Tree & (de)fence'.
The consent defence in UK law was removed by the Tory Government a few hours after Banksy painted it. By adding perspex and a council fence, despite how shit it looks, is in effect adding to taking the piss out of this new Tory law. It appears that this piece of 'criminal damage' is very welcome by the owners of the building, Islington Council, local residents and thousands of visitors. link
"Known as the “consent” defence, it allowed defendants on trial for criminal damage to argue that they honestly believed the owner of the property targeted would have consented if they had known of the damage and its circumstances."

Thanks for this. I wasn't aware. Very worrying development and really goes to show the sort of country we're living in at the moment. And it won't be reinstated by this sham of a Labour party we've got, pretending to be an opposition party.

Just my interpretation although would fit in with the timing of it appearing and encompass environmental issues as well as the removal of our collective human rights to protest against issues such as the slaughter of 35,000 innocent Palestinians, Putins invasion of Ukraine, the ongoing Brexit disaster, disgusting pollluted rivers & sea's, the ongoing privatisation of the NHS, the demonisation of 'the poor' and the general shit show the Tory Government have inflicted for the past 14 years. IMO the Labour Party couldn't possibly do any worse, even if they tried. If we don't get Labour we get 5 more years of this crap.

Some ambient lighting and gently music of swaying trees wouldn’t be a bad idea as well.
