I like how they have framed the hoarding as if to somehow make it more aesthetically pleasing to the viewer. 

I think Banksy came back and it’s part of the artwork. Maybe it is about the environment after all. If we continue like this, this will be the only way to remember what a tree looked liked: in a museum 😉

As for galleries and all, not much has changed.  Read Frida Kahlo's letter about wannabes artist in France   And Duchamps and wife are mentioned for being the nicest artist and host ever.

Odd to think “people are enticed, prices are inflated and sometimes even manipulated” “Through clever marketing and fancy stories”. So if I wanted my work to sell I’d better think of a fancy story. I wonder if art schools teach in that too, besides the learning to paint thing 🤔

If you want work to sell, apply the formulae of the "Dustbin of Art"...    to cut it short, be full of yourself, narcissic; make crap that play with sentiment, mostly showing iconic brands, famous persons/characters mixed with bunch of narcissic iconic celebs (e.g. "paint a Spongebob seating next to Michael Jordan and easting a McDonald hamburger while Jordan is throwing a ball in a net imitating the famous Bansky-flower throw"); suck lot of white dicks (remember Basquiat); and be full of yourself, almost cynical, and never give up.... so that you are remembered as a talented artists of the dustbin area

To be honest this bit of card now looks less rubbish than the tree on the wall behind all the ephemera.

Is it normal for Banksy to abandon such things? Wondering if they were distracted and any chance the wall is unfinished.

As a guide it should measure 24 red bricks. In fact, the size of the image to be covered corresponds to approximately 24 building bricks (in height).

The splashed paint doesn't look anything like the paint on the actual mural, so it wasn't used to cover the figure... also the figure would have a clear square around it, where paint was masked by this board, but it doesn't.

The only place I can see where it might have been used, is on the right hand side, to protect the metal fence, or block the view slightly from the pavement next to them... but, again, the paint splats don't look the same as the mural.

(I'm also curious about where that photo was taken, as the building and car park also don't look like the buildings around the mural.)

He would have sprayed the paint and it then drips down the wall. Sorry didnt want to involve drip in this discussion.

When I arrived the piece of cardboard was lying adjacent to where the figure was painted on the grass. Still wet. I picked it up to see if it was the stencil, then left it where I found it next to the figure, IMO it was defo used to cover the figure while the wall was sprayed.

i went to get my family to show them and returned 5 mins later and the cardboard had been moved to the side of the building.
