I've heard the Q is v high.
780 on an ed of 300 is a tad high.

..I remember a price of 500E on an ed of 100 in paris 18months ago..(diff image though).

I have just bought one. The quality is very high and stunning in person. One recently made £2800 hammer at Bloomsbury Auctions! £780 is a bargain and as they sell out the price goes up. I think there areabout 30 left as mine was numbered 271/300.

It has been available for over 3 years, really great value, in an edition of 50, by a world renowned artist and it still has not sold out.
Some of the stuff we see on here from flavour of the month artists sells out in a flash.
Possibly divisive image, but I like it a lot

Doig is obviously one of the greatest living artists without doubt. His paintings are unbelievable when you see them. This print isn't a reflection of them but neither is it intended to be. I think it's a really fun piece and there's very little chance you'll find a cheaper Doig print, though he does sometimes issue prints to coincide with exhibitions such as Fisherman from a few years back. But as you say a low edition, a good price and a great artist. If you enjoy the image I wouldn't sweat on it!

A bit of info on this print as its not your normal doig style but it does have importance to the history of his work and would look great framed up.

'Conceived as an ideal living space, the Unité d’Habitation apartments in Briey-en-Forêt, north east France – one of several such visionary postwar projects designed by the modernist architect Le Corbusier - opened in 1961. The apartment block fell into disrepair and was derelict by 1973, until subsequently reclaimed for habitation.

In the early 1990s Peter Doig was involved with a group of architects and artists who operated from the building. He used a handheld video camera to capture the disorientating experience of moving through the surrounding woods towards the building. Between 1991 and 1999 Doig worked from the still images and were the basis for his 9 ‘Concrete Cabin’ paintings.

This limited edition Xerox print comes from one of Doig's stills. The architecture appears and disappears within the screen of branches, so that foreground and background are held together in tension, opening up the drama within the surface of the image. This still was also the basis for his 1996 etching 'Concrete Cabin' which was part of his portfolio 'Ten Etchings'.

“Peter Doig designed this special edition for the Secession.
The artist has repeatedly taken up and varied the motif of the bather in his paintings in recent year. Two of which were on view in his 2019 exhibition in the main room of the Secession. The images are a homage to the American modernist painter, Marsden Hartley – a depiction of Robert Mitchum on a beach in Trinidad – but now Mitchum is nearly unrecognizable, an abstraction that allows Doig to experiment in paint handling and image-making.

Organized as horizontal striations, the manifold color fields not only evoke a range of ambiances between day and night, they also draw attention to the means of painting. Doig is less interested in rendering identifiable, real scenes than in the interplay of representational and compositional elements that, weaving between reality and imagination, meld different planes of perception and recollection.”

Site says they’re sold through but they weren’t sold online - you had to email & if successful they’d send an invoice.

I would imagine a few may become available in the coming weeks if not everyone’s followed through and paid the invoice.
