He has a broad subject matter - I’m not sure you can easily say ‘classic Doig’, but I’m far from an expert.
But I do like the look of these and to me seems cheap given signed, the size, and number of editions.

What you gain in value you lose in the inconvenience of having to look after a heifer.

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Pawel on Nov 21, 2020 18:02:24 GMT 1, I find it quite interesting that some artist have no edition market established, even when their Originals sell for a few million USD. It would be a dog fight if there was a under €1k print release by Invader, Pejac, Calleja, you name it. And these artist don’t sell their pantings for §10M.
Here we have 150 emails sent. I’m saying it’s wrong, just interesting. Btw, it seems the print is based on these:

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Fuzzyduck121 on Nov 21, 2020 20:40:22 GMT 1, Enormous print and relatively small edition size Blue chip artist Under 1k
But it’s not worth 10X purchase price instantly so it garners no love here For shrewd collectors this is a lovely thing
Following the above ; I believe his auction record is $29M for the record
I think the release was also extremely low key due to the small numbers available and the relatively small staff rosta of the gallery involved
It won’t be cheap to frame

People buying these are autograph hunters. This image is not a masterpiece and falls into the weak category of his ouvre. It's a b-side at best. Carry on and namaste.

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Fuzzyduck121 on Nov 21, 2020 20:59:05 GMT 1, Disagree
It’s better than the canoe print that regularly reaches 5-6k at auction
It’s available primary from counter at £6,500 for an edition of 300 at half the physical size
For any collector of his work this is never going to be a bad thing to own and it’s inexpensive for what and who it is
Maybe plates and posters is the new way to go ?

Not my favourite Doig image I’ll admit, but you’re right, considering he’s a top tier blue chip artist who only releases a print every couple of years nowadays this was too good to pass on. Plus I’m pretty sure this image will be the full sheet & no borders as with his last digital pigment print (Ten to One is Murder, 2018) which looks awesome if you’re thinking of floating it.
He’s not a hype artist, so I suspect his collector base isn’t scouring blogs & forums looking for the next drop, hence the relatively low response rate.
Btw, on the subject of plates, here’s a Doig one that’s still available @ Whitechapel. Bit steeper than the Coalition for the Homeless ones tho: shop.whitechapelgallery.org/products/peter-doig-and-stuart-carey-lion-ting-2017

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Fuzzyduck121 on Nov 21, 2020 21:54:08 GMT 1, Definitely not a seminal or career defining work but as you said it will look great framed and it’s really excellent value compared to most releases being touted here
Haven’t seen many prints at almost 130 cm from any artist!
It’s a sleeper that will prove a great investment in years to come as well as something that looks great ...whilst everyone here argues over buying stuff for £150 that they can flip in two weeks for £225

Peter Doig is a figurative painter. He rekindled it as an exciting art form and was commanding auction records for the most expensive European living artist before Hockney broke his record.
Great image from a great artist... jog on yoga boy.

You've done well with the Hirst and now doig drops. Score the Wool and ai weiwei too?

Wool was the one to get ! Sadly not on this occasion thus far The Doig and an Ed Ruscha edition for £1100 between them and both in the same week and I can’t complain !

Oi numbnuts! Figurative painter does not exclusively mean figure painting! Still a shite image. Doig achieved multi million dollar auction prices by painting Rosedale, Boiler House, The Architect's House, Pine House and Swamped. Bather for Secession pales in comparison.
Back your argument up with pics or stuff ya!
Namaste.

I will not be speculating about what has not happened in the market yet. I am just saying that Bathers do not possess the same quality or standard as the works that went to market. Look with your eyes mate.
