Hi all the wife and I are going to London this Saturday, we want to know if you guys know some Galleries to visit, we have plans to go to Laz & stolen space, to look at some of Conor Harrington work, but we want to make a day of it so any help would be great, if you can help could you give addresses so I can find them cheers in advanced.

i know it's not strictly a gallery, but try and visit the Design Museum (SE1). One of my favourite museum in London, plus, it has a Jonathan Barnbrook exhibition on at the moment.

btw, it only a 20 min leisurely stroll along the Thames from the tate modern

If you have an interest in any other aspects of design then you could visit the 'New Designers' exhibition- you missed the contemporary art section but theres plenty of amazing Design to see over the weekend from londons graduates! if you go i might see you there!!

I'd whole heartedly recommend the Anthony Gormley - Blind Light exhibition at the Hayward Gallery. Really amazing stuff.

The Hampshire right on Leicester Sq is good, Covent Gdn hotel even better

Stop at the Hoxton. £8 to Covent Grden and some special, special pieces in the area. I stopped there last weekend, room 313, and the huge Blu work (the one with brains being sucked through straws.....) was right outside the window.

Additionally, after many hours of searching, I managed to photograph the shutters of a shop that Eine hadn't stuck a letter on. Took some time but it was worth it...

I am a London Taxi Driver and get asked this on a daily basis.
IMO if you really want to impress,use one of the major hotels around Hyde Park Corner. The Lanesborough, The Hilton, The Intercontinental, The Dorchester, The Four Seasons,The Grosvenor House, Or of course The Ritz on Picadilly. You also won't go wrong at The Savoy on the Strand, but you should prepare yourself for a hefty bill.
All of these are within walking distance of the square or a £5.00 cab ride at most. (Remember:Always use a Licensed London Taxi..!!!!)

Agree with billy the cabbie, go for a top hotel with a top reputation, the Hilton has the added benefit of 'windows' whose chef Daniel Galvin at the in house restaurant provides fine food with even finer views over London....not cheap tho'

As suggested, the newly built Hoxton Hotel is nice and very well located for all of the Hoxton/Shoreditch graff. It's a two minute walk from the new Angel piece on Old Street, the new ratapult and POW is outside the back door.

If you're going all out, you really can't beat The Dorchester. It's amazing! The Met is also very nice.

If you're after something central and "Trendy" (in the c**ktail bar, minor celebs sense) you've got The Sanderson, The St Martin's Lane, The Trafalgar and The Soho Hotel to name a few. The bar in the Sanderson is probably the best of that lot.

i recently stayed in the holiday in cromwell road nothing flash but no complaints very nice garden out the back, £15 from picadilly in a cab at night

the cool one of the moment is the rockwell in cromwell road, im staying there next week while i vist 100% design at earls court

I was going to suggest the Sanderson if you like funky, designer boutique style hotels. By the way you must try the Purple Room, Nothing but Vodka from around the world. www.sandersonlondon.com

If you like more traditonal decor then the Covent Garden Hotel is a must. www.firmdale.com

And finally if you don't mind being a little oustide of London and driving in then the Stoke Park Club is one of my favourite places to stay. Don't forget your gold clubs whilst the other half relaxes in the award winning SPA www.stokeparkclub.com

We had a lovely weekend staying at the langham . If you go club level all drinks and nice snacks are included in the lounge.
If you want to indulge beyond belief go for a four poster bed at the Dorchester, The service is second to none here!
