Visit LONDON ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Harveyn on Nov 21, 2007 11:53:02 GMT 1, Hi Folks
My wife and myself are flying into London for a Weekend break and we will be staying in the Shoreditch area.
Already had lots of help from forum members (Phil & Pez) in sorting out where to stay, where to eat and what to see.
So our plans are as follows.
- Saturday afternoon - TLSG (Matt Small) & BRP (White Noise)
- Saturday late afternoon - RCA Secret (If the Queue has gone)
- Saturday 6:00pm - 9:00pm - Shopping Regent Street on way to Marylebone for Eats. Hopefully a few glasses of Vino on route.
- Saturday Evening - Eat & Two Veg (Personally I'm a meat eater but some compromises have to be made)
- Sunday Morning - Shoreditch - Breakfast, Markets, Stolen Space, Pure Evil and Lunch.
- Sunday Afternoon - Tate Modern
- Sunday Evening - Canteen Restaurant (Shoreditch)
Okay so some more help required. Any recommendations for a Restaurant for Sunday evening (Probably Shoreditch area)?
Also I want to get to see as much street art as possible on Sunday morning so any suggestions on Streets to concentrate on (my Wife's patience is limited.. ;D ;D)
Thanks in advance...... ;D

But as your at the Tate Modern, why not have a stroll back down towards Tower Bridge and pop in one of the restauarants in Butlers Wharf - I believe La Pont de La Tour is open on a Sunday - and is quite pleasant, piano player etc ;D
I would say the Chop House next door, as it's a fave of mine (mainly for the extremely good value bar set menu ยฃ14 for 3 courses, and no need to book) but it's shut on a Sunday.
Oh - while your in London, if you fancy a "traditional" Lunch - try some Pie Mash and "Licker" 2 Pies + 2 Mash with vinegar and white pepper
Manzies in Tower Bridge Road is a good one...
87 Tower Bridge Road, London SE1
Clarke's in Exmouth Market is also good.

Aha - another fan ;D
Serious, Serious c**ktails in Hawksmoor...I remember asking for a 'Gin-Rickey' (my current c**ktail of choice) The Barman was taken aback that he didn't know it, but refused to admit it, so slyly asked questions "I know it, Is it like?" etc etc until he sussed it ....
My money is no object piss ups after work trail normally takes in Hawksmoor and LoungeLover in Whitby Street.
BTW - I've heard 'Canteen' in Spitalfields Market is pretty good - not eaten in there myself,
www.canteen.co.uk/
It's open on a Sunday - why not do that and take in a 'Jack the Ripper' Walk?

Wonder what it tastes like? Chicken? (everything 'strange' tastes of Chicken apparently)
I don't know - the Carnivore in me wants to eat one of the cute little bastards......just because I'm higher up the food chain, and I can. It's what I do.

I asked my butcher what it tasted like once but he just scowled and said shit, it's not something he stocks. Personally I'm put off by the name tree rat and the abundance of other good meat round here, I can get a whole leg of lamb for about ยฃ15 or steaks off Longhorns or Welsh Black, corn fed chickens for ยฃ6 I could go on but I'm making myself hungry. Wild meat can also be a bugger to cook as it tends to have such a low fat content.
I'll make some enquires next time I'm at the farm but for now I've just googled them and found this page for you.
