Visit AMSTERDAM π³π± Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Dive Jedi on Jun 2, 2022 17:22:02 GMT 1, Any suggestion for exhibitions, galleries, bars, restaurants to visit in Amsterdam? Behind the Central Train Station(which looks like a palace), you can take a boat ride to the windmills at the Zaanse Schans. You will basicly pass my house.
Amsterdam is rather small, so you can walk around the center and pretty much see everything in a day or two. Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum and Moco (Banksy) are all on the same square ; Museum Plein.

And what kind of locations are good to stay?

Visit AMSTERDAM π³π± Street Art, Galleries, Events, by telmooh on Jul 13, 2023 12:08:36 GMT 1, Just leaving this one here ... Solo show in STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam. This place is worth a visit anyway, so kill two birds with one stone!
"Shepard Fairey at STRAAT
Shepard Fairey, the renowned artist and activist, is coming to STRAAT! Known for his iconic 'Andre The Giant Has A Posse' imagery, and Barack Obamaβs 'Hope' campaign poster, Shepard will be showcasing his incredible talent in a major solo exhibition at our STRAAT Gallery. Not only will the exhibition feature over 130 of his works, but Shepard and his team are also creating two new murals: one on the museum's West exterior wall and a large-scale piece for the interior main hall collection. The gallery exhibition, titled "Printed Matters: Raise the Level," runs until Sunday, October 1st, 2023. Don't miss the chance to see Shepard Fairey's biggest solo exhibition ever in the Netherlands.
Solo exhibition Shepard Fairey / Printed Matters: Raise the Levelβ―
Printed Matters: Raise the Level focuses on promoting the well-being of our planet. The phrase "raise the level" encompasses various aspects, including raising awareness about the impacts of burning fossil fuels and climate change, the rising sea levels caused by global warming, and the need for immediate action to protect the Earth. In essence, it urges us to elevate our efforts to save the planet.
Shepard Fairey's solo exhibition at STRAAT goes beyond environmental concerns and also addresses pressing issues such as nationalism, xenophobia, war, fake news, and threats to democracy. Fairey effectively communicates with viewers by incorporating familiar symbols, portraits, and texts in his artwork, encouraging them to engage in a meaningful dialogue about these relevant issues."

P.S. Worth asking to see their 'secret garden' (hopefully it's still there by then!)

Visit AMSTERDAM π³π± Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Smokeidaeye on Jun 7, 2024 0:57:25 GMT 1, Just got home from a trip to Amsterdam with the family. A definite "don't miss" was the Straat museum. It was an amazing opportunity to get up close with works by well known street artists from around the world, many that I already knew and others that I just discovered while walking the huge space.
I shared several photo on Instagram that show the scope of the museum. http://instagram.com/p/C7v6yx9g5f4

For modern art, definitely hit up the Stedelijk Museum. I wandered around the Jordaan neighborhood last time I was there and found some really cool street art and quirky galleries. Also, check out the NDSM Wharfβit's an old shipyard turned artsy area with incredible graffiti.

Visit AMSTERDAM π³π± Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Cardiff on Aug 21, 2024 18:04:56 GMT 1, Heading to Amsterdam Sunday and mistakenly read the post from 23 about Shep and booked tix to the Straat Hope the permanent collection's worth a look.
Any must visit restaurants around the city center? I got a list from a friend who lives there part time and he was pretty underwhelmed by the dining options.
Also, is Lionel Gallery still open?
