Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by adewilliams on Nov 15, 2018 10:49:33 GMT 1, I notice there are also a couple of Banksy pieces in the upcoming Phillips Hong Kong Contemporary evening sale, 2 Abe Lincolns on cardboard. Makes me wonder if they we're sprayed on cardboard as opposed to canvas as they could be considered, a bit crap!

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Shoot Again on Nov 26, 2018 10:54:35 GMT 1, Not my cup of tea those 2 Banksy Abe Lincoln but I agree they went relatively cheap compared to some recent results here in UK. Was brave / commendable from the owner to consign them in HK, I certainly wouldn't have done so...

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Graham H on Nov 26, 2018 14:44:18 GMT 1, Looking at where they bought them from and how much, the seller made roughly £150k between them in 5 years.. unless i've got my maths wrong..so hardly a disaster.. for not the greatest image really
Ive actually seen both pieces - they were on display for quite some time - along with loads of other great art at Bibo restaurant in Hong Kong ( you can see them in this picture www.bibo.hk/concept/ )..hence why i presume they were sold in HK

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Dexter Bulldog on Nov 26, 2018 15:52:03 GMT 1, It would actually be a fun thread to start: “worst banksys ever” because those Lincoln’s would have to be near the top unless there’s a lot of garbage I haven’t seen. I imagine the new owner would have many conversations like this with their guests “Wtf is THAT Lincoln thingy?” “That there, that’s my new Banksy!” “Oh.”

Buyers hopefully factored the fees into what they bid... so paid about £2500 for each of those Shrigleys... is that low? Maybe a bit compared to their upper tier prices!!
Interesting that "Im sorry..." sold for more than others that have previously been more popular!

Be nice recently sold out with the last tier 5k. Here it was basically half price. If I was the seller I would not be happy.

Lots of nice stuff in this auction all around.
