New Banksy?, by Deleted on Aug 8, 2021 12:55:56 GMT 1, Given the number of works and the scale of this, itβs very quiet on social media. Normally by this point Iβm getting annoyed as everyone posts and reposts the same pictures.
I really hope there is something else to go with the pieces weβve seen that pulls them all together - and not just the usual amusing video - as whilst itβs all very good, it doesnβt feel very exciting at the moment.

New Banksy?, by lha on Aug 8, 2021 13:25:05 GMT 1, Given the number of works and the scale of this, itβs very quiet on social media. I said to some pals yesterday Ed that it seemed quiet on the press front also. Only started getting national press coverage late afternoon yesterday. I agree with what you mentioned about social media also, thatβs partly location and easy access. Norfolk is a bit out on a limb and a lot of smaller towns as opposed to cities, so not the usual number of people going to see the works straight away. Unlike the queues, that were managed by security, for people taking selfies and pics of the Reading Gaol piece. The above also highlights how much social media and press attention fuels the excitement, attention and narrative, all part of the process. I posted a pic of the Yarmouth piece on Friday morning on Insta and think it was on here at some point Friday afternoon and on wider social media. That usually creates a buzz and people visiting the piece. I know people who went to see it Friday afternoon/evening and there was no one there, no one taking pics, no local press. I donβt think thatβs reflective of anything wider, could be wrong, just location and people in the immediate location who arenβt nterested enough to visit as no one knows if itβs a Banksy. Iβm sure it will pick up in the coming days, if/when they are verified. Iβm sure thereβs a few more folks whoβve ventured to see the pieces this weekend. Be interesting to see how it plays out with these works. And whether any more show up! Iβve loved seeing all the pics, think theyβre great pieces. And great they they are in quieter areas, some classic old seaside towns. Thereβs more to it in all likeliness, weβll soon find out I guess!

Youβre right - they havenβt been verified yet which usually generates more excitement.
I guess Iβm just hoping for more - I love seeing the pictures but I want something really clever to pull them together. If it turns out to just be a number of street pieces to support a city of culture application. (or whatever it is) it will be a bit disappointing in my opinion.

Canβt imagine theyβre being solely done to support a city of culture application, donβt think all the hard work would go in solely for something like that, seems counter intuitive. Again, I could be wrong. I like the fact that some of these areas are old seaside towns, like Weston Super Mare, that were different in their heyday and that they are a bit of the beaten track. Looking forward to seeing what more unfoldsβ¦..

It's a pretty common insulation, always cut offs/waste after a building job that end up in a skip. Just think they have been clever with them.
