TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by Deleted on Dec 9, 2020 21:01:23 GMT 1, Trollies nose dived - some prints levelling out.
I thought the Trollies at forum seemed a bit odd. Basically hammered at ยฃ50k (I think the auctioneer actually hammered) which seemed about right and then suddenly sky rocketed to ยฃ70k+ in a frenzy. I guess maybe 2 bidders really really wanted it?

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by faute on Dec 9, 2020 21:23:43 GMT 1, So much more value in far better pieces in this sale than the Banksy souvenirs! I never realised that the Wall piece souvenirs were so small. I love wall piece souvenirs. Sure, they are very small. But, I would prefer to have a collection of 20 of them (it won't happen unfortunately ), than some unsigned screenprints. To me, wall pieces souvenirs work very well as a small collection.
It completely fell under my radar, before they were sold online and I deeply regret it. Now, I'm addicted to them. If only, they were a bit cheaper. It would really bring back the fun of collecting to me.

There will be cheap flights and the bunks are only $60 a night

Just shows the luck of the draw for the auction route tbh - whole range of factors including location, currency, timing, auction house, other lots - and of course individuals interest (2 or more seriously interested bidders on the day) - this is not an exhaustive list by any means. I have a Trolleys and recognise its value is likely (on average) to be closer to the ยฃ60k mark at the minute, than anything approaching ยฃ100k. If I can spot one from a website picture I would have hoped they could spot it as they hold it in their hands. It was fake and some poor sucker "took his chance" and paid ยฃ4k for a worthless copy.
Pretty sure not the yesterday auction right? That Petrol Bomb was mine and it came with probably the most solid provenance you can get out there for one of those..unless someone wants to argue with Jo Brooks Banksy PR Agent..:-))

As has been shown in the Fake vs Real Petrol Bomb thread there are multiple examples of fake posters being sold as real.

Someone tried to sell a few prints, no COA, the same one, a little while ago.
Now I understand those results better. Or there's suddenly a surge in LA prints without COA, what a coincidence.
It fucks up a little bit the banksy value stats, but that's OK.

Regarding the Banksy LA print serie, I had a very interesting talk last month with someone that was involved with Mr B and helping with the show back in the days.
He confirmed to me that basically... it was a mess. He showed me pics of the appartement of an L.A. socialite/VIP (that I can't name here for obvious reason) with piles of literally hundreds of prints. These were unsigned and unumbered. Not sure what happened to them, not 100% sure why they were left there (got different stories).
But for sure there is a lot out there.
And if anyone want to correct me or add any more details, please feel free.

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by jamieb on Dec 10, 2020 12:32:30 GMT 1, make your own mind up based on this post from the Petrol Bomb - Fake vs Real thread from Danny at Tateward
"Today we [Tateward] began contacting all buyers of Petrol Bomb Posters that have been purchased Via Tate Ward to offer an inspection against a reference copy to confirm weather genuine or fake then issue a full refund as requested by the client. We will pay refunds immediately and take up the matter with the consigners separately.
On behalf of myself and the team I want to apologise wholeheartedly for this situation. Our reputation is of the upmost importance to us and anything that diminishes it or brings into question our expertise and knowledge is something we take very seriously. Problems are going to occur whilst running a business, for me how they are addressed is the true measure of those involved.
On a personal note, Nick has been my business partner for 3 years and during that time he has always acted with the highest levels of integrity. I know any poster he has sold privately will be refunded if found to be fake or at the buyers request. I do not believe for one moment he had any prior knowledge that the posters were not genuine.
The poster in our current sale comes with email provenance from Jo Brooks Iโm 100% sure itโs genuine and inspection is welcome in person at any point prior to the sale on 9th December. "

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by 1970hopper on Feb 5, 2021 22:38:48 GMT 1, Iโm happy to announce the first Urban and Contemporary sale at newly established auction house Tate Ward, will be held at the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane on the 10th Apr. Work will be on view from the 4th Apr. After 4 successful sales with Chiswick, Nick and I have decided itโs time to set up our own. Our fellow partner is ex Christieโs director Nigel Shorthouse, he brings 22 years of auction and art market experience. Harry Parkinson also joins us as a specialist in the Urban and Contemporary department. We will continue to partner with Artsy, The Saleroom and Invaluable. However live bidding will be also be possible via our website. Bidding via The Saleroom or Invaluable will incur a 5% online bidding charge. Live bidding direct via our website is free. Making it the cheapest/easiest way to access the auction. The consignment deadline for this auction is Friday 8th March. If youโre interested in consigning work please contact myself danny@tateward.com or nick@tateward.com Unframed work can be dropped/collected at our office by appointment we are at Truman Brewery Building 91 Brick Lane London E1 6QL. Framed and larger work will be handled Pre and Post sale by Cadogan Tate their address is 239 Acton Lane London NW10 7NP. We have preferred shipping partners (Flight Logistics, Cadogan Tate and JGM Shipping) who will provide logistical support for our buyers and sellers. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask or drop me a pm/email. Our wine dept are also currently building their first sale. Along side this we are looking to expand in the following areas, Watches, Jewellery, Fashion + Handbags and Streetwear + Trainers. Please register at our website www.tateward.com to be kept in touch and sent catalogues as they become available. โIn light of the current situation, we have made the decision to move our three auctions online this week, including our biggest sale Urban and Contemporary Art. As a local business, we must carry on whilst changing our way of operating. We are fortunate that our business can move online during these uncertain times. Despite the turbulent global economy, art auctions are still performing solidly. Iโm happy to announce the first Urban and Contemporary sale at newly established auction house Tate Ward, will be held at the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane on the 10th Apr. Our lots include the likes of Invader, Harland Miller and of course Banksy, who are always in high demand.โ Nick Clark owner of Tate Ward fadmagazine.com/2020/03/23/online-auction-of-urban-and-contemporary-art-featuring-haring-banksy-and-hirst-this-wednesday/

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by WOOF on Feb 11, 2021 18:21:20 GMT 1, You would think after being caught selling multiple fake Banksy posters they would take a break. Nope. Selling more posters and tat. We know there are fake soup can posters and box sets. What do they have? Soup can poster and box set! How many will turn out to be fake in the next 6 months? I'll never do business with tate ward. Hard to argue with this...
