I would value it around the same as morons personally, its a huge edition, and its not actually that approachable as a print imo... As much as I'd like one, and I would, I can't see it replacing any of my other pieces by Banksy that are on my walls at the moment.... Whereas there are some that if I was offered a straight swap for one of mine, I would do so.... Not taking into account value, just image at this point..... BTW, I wonder of the people who bought it, how many took the time to look into the meaning behind Basquiat's crown? Or to research him as an artist? I hope the majority, but I fear the minority.... I was more meaning compared to say the edition of 25 CYW colour ways, or the soup can editions of 10, of which this should not IMO be as valuable (even though the soup can ed of 10, which is my favourite of all my pieces, seems to be nowhere near the price it should be).... Agreed, lots of large numbers in his editions previously. Comparing to older prints even with larger edition sizes is tough tho, not all survived, and not all were sold.....

While they had it I asked them to put the handles under the microscope so I could solve the 'hand finished' mystery. I had them include their findings, pics etc in the final report to me. They confirm that the handles were added after the fact. Its also visible where the orange color has slightly bled through to the back of the print. That all being said, I know it would be pure speculation whether it was done by B and PC doesn't list it as a hand finished print so I l leave it at that. |

If I'm honest, I don't know any meaning behind Choose Your Weapon, other than Haring tribute. Don't even know why it has that name. Will read up.

I suspect this has a little more to go in this auction and that the lack of PC induces a value reduction of 20% or a bit more so ultimately this will be around 100K when all settles down in my view.

In contrast, the painting was absolutely fantastic. One of the best things at the 2009 show.

It's pretty good for a 10 pound poster. The paper has a good weight, but the image itself is a bit muddled in some places, and color separation leaves something to be desired. The upper left hand corner of the poster is where you see this the most IMO. In contrast, the painting was absolutely fantastic. One of the best things at the 2009 show. |

Still would be a p*sser for the buyer to see a COA'd one worth double what they paid in a years time if they cant then get the COA ( if things carry on the way they are going!) but only get their money back.. but at least its a no lose gamble!
