With most (all, now?) Avant Arte releases you can apply for what they call a “pre-order”. Depending on how popular the print is, they pre-sell (at full price) some portion of the release to folks they choose based on being returning customers, new customers, customers that missed out on previous releases, etc. I think they explain it on the website. Some people like the approach, some not so much - see the George Condo release thread.

well, a 20-layer screenprint would certainly have been better than a 3-layer with varnish, atop a giclee. But it looks like a really nice offering nonetheless IMHO
