I would probably imagine even when they're all ready, they won't ship until it aligns with GDP's shipping. They seem to be doing everything in parallel.

I would think it's more important for them to produce as many as they can and get them out as soon as possible, and move onto release 2

I can't see it being an easy process for them to make.

I for one, still don't see these as being unlimited, but that is just pure speculation from myself. I know others think they will be, but if they were truly unlimited, why not just start shipping them out as they're finished in the order they were paid for? I still think there is a twist in here somewhere along with some of the other unlimited items on GDP.

Who is doing what ? and what does it run parallel with ??

For 1, it went live at the same time GDP went live. GDP Shipping items 3-5 months, which seems like it is heading towards that time frame. 

Updates have been extremely vague, and more of place holders than actual updates on progress and ETA's. 

I bet the next update comes around at the time something ships or happens at GDP.

Is anyone else surprised they didn’t have most if not all of the Welcome mats ready to go before they went on sale? I think this is the reason I think it’s highly likely that it’s closely linked to the rest of the GDP operational plan. The door mat I ordered at the weekend had been out of stock but became available yesterday and has been posted today so the work on that side of things appears to be running smoothly enough.
There is a master plan at work I believe.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with you on this one. I don't necessarily believe that there's some bigger plan in action here but I wouldn't be surprised if the initial 500 is either the only or one of 2-3 releases of this piece.  My personal hunch is that they won't be limited in the sense that they'll ever be numbered (they've said as much) but there's obviously a fair amount of work and labor that goes into producing 500 of them, and to think that there will be thousands more produced seems more unlikely than likely.

and I'd say anyone that ordered a mat is also getting an exclusive print too 😘

I was kinda surprised that they didn't get some sort of headstart going on the production (maybe they have?). I mean, it must've been a reasonably safe bet that these were going to sell. Even if you got 100 or so done before the launch, you'd know they'd go, right?

I don't see why these would be limited at all. The situation hasn't improved in those affected countries, so there will likely always be refugees in need that they can add. Banksy wants to help the organization so it doesn't make sense to place a limit on the number of mats and limit the amount of aid that the project provides to their employees.

Perhaps "the twist" was that the whole GDP thing was just to bring awareness to the Love Welcomes project, jumpstart it, and keep it going, and not to get housewares into the hands of the wealthy art collectors and fans.

I think it will be a challenge for them to sell these in perpetuity at this price. The buyers on these are Banksy superfans that also believe in the charity and some flippers who are already seeing prices drop on ebay so they'll be ruled out on the next round once more are released tipping the whole supply and demand balance back to normal.

So, I guess yes it could be unlimited but I think it will be a struggle to continue sales at this price once the waitlist buyers get theirs.

All these sales are irrelevant. Either they're unlimited and the buyer will cancel, or they're not and the seller will cancel. And nobody can predict worth, as nobody really knows what the label is, how many will actually be produced, or what the heck is even going on with GDP.

Its also amazing to think that each batch of 500 is worth c.250k to the charity!

I just purchased cushions for my employee's holiday gifts and the order # was a hair over 2000.  About 500 orders more than my Banksy Mat order.  By those #'s they're doing 10-15 orders/day, I'm sure a large % of those orders wouldn't have happened without Banksy bringing awareness to the Love Welcomes.  I certainly wouldn't have known about them had it not been for the Banksy mat.  

Related: Shopify screwed up my shipping address (autocorrected it to a wrong address) and I've tried reaching out in every possible way to alert them before the shipment goes out.  I've filled out the form on their site and emailed info@lovewelcomes but haven't been able to get any confirmation that they corrected the address.  It's been ~30 hours and I just received notice from DHL that a shipment had been created.  Does anyone have alternative contact info for LW?  Do you know if I can contact DHL once I have the tracking # and have them divert the shipment to the correct address?
