But regardless of my personal taste, when judged according to standards widely accepted by knowledgeable and experienced coffee drinkers, I recognise that Nescafรฉ Original is considered bad coffee โ or not even real coffee. The fact I like it has zero impact on its objective quality.
We can take the analogy a step further:
Given my predilection for Nescafรฉ Original, it would not seem unreasonable for you to ignore or dismiss my opinion if we were having a serious discussion about the quality of different coffees.
You might assume โ quite fairly in my view โ that I don't have a trained, refined palate. Completely agree with you.
Minus the choice coffee but here we have the rub. Thankfully you know your taste and are aware of the alternates and options but you remain happy. Not knowing your personal circumstances, financial youโre making a sound choice. However, I might attempt to influence you to go fair trade. But ultimately youโre an adult making choices, Iโm believing youโre competent. Your choices are not impacting on me or others so your coffee is cool.
That said and youโve alluded to it yourself, our inner thoughts tell us โhow can you trust anyone who enjoys Mr Brainwash?!โ But then itโs someone elseโs enjoyment that Iโll never understand.
