The GDP labels still need to be placed on the mats. It's quite possible that these ship to GDP, they place the GDP labels on them, then ship them with everything else they are shipping.

Again this is all speculation on my part. :-) I just think it's unreasonable to assume that PC/GDP won't be given our information and there are easy ways around GDPR in this case but maybe I am wrong.

I can’t believe some are suggesting that GDP point people towards buying a mat that will not get Pest Control in the interest of helping a cause but then excluded you from from buying the actual thing like the print you were hoping for. What bollocks. Some people on here are plain nuts.

I can see that too. That's the most likely outcome. I do feel like there was something odd about how the mat was sold/described though. I wouldn't be shocked if there was a twist to come for those who bought one.

As we're dissecting every possible element of this mat has anyone raised the question of what the overall material is? From pictures I've seen it looks like it could be coconut which is an incredibly exciting material. Eh, a twist is possible but I think it's more likely that the plan/plans changed as things started moving along quickly. For example, the cushions...they were originally listed as limited and I think $50. Now I think they are unlimited and $150.

I just think they probably underestimated the demand for everything, including the mats, and their team wants to empower the charity to continue manufacturing them so the shift to unlimited happened and the GDP label is as the charity mentioned, so you know it's genuine. It's why I also think the mats will probably ship to GDP for at least the first run. I'm sure any authorized label they'll want to keep a solid chain of custody of until they can figure out the best way to handle as people really do fake everything.

There's a lot going on with this sale. I'm betting they haven't even designed the label yet and probably not too much a rush because these are going to take some time to manufacture as they are all created by hand.

Why so?

No disagreement here.

However, in the context of "name and shame", the verb "shame" refers less to an individual's shameful behaviour than to the penalty it should incur.

That penalty is a social one — shaming. And it's the public nature of shaming which is crucial.

If everyone were kept ignorant about the identity of those who behaved poorly, then there'd be no real incentive for transgressors to stop. What it would also say to others who lack scruples is that they too can do the same, without fear of scrutiny — and without fear of being held publicly accountable.

Such a message would be unfortunate, in my view.

I totally understand where you are coming from, but I personally don't like to snitch on people.
There is also a slim possibility that I could be wrong, so therefore naming said person wouldn't be right, unless I was 100%.
I was just trying to understand why the pitchforks were out for Andy(CG) auctioning a mat for charity, yet this amoral fucker goes unnoticed selling two of these for his own personal gain.

As many other on here have pointed out, just because something was not “hand made” by someone does not mean it is not their work.... Damien Hirst is not embalming the animals himself, Koons is not hand making his ballon sculptures, Murakami is not screen-printing all his work, and I would go so far as to say 99.99999% of prints that we all own and have hanging on our walls did not have the squeegee hand pulled by the artist...this does not mean that any of the above mentioned is not said artists work... are the mats made by banksy? No. Are they a banksy? Yes. People really have lost their whole mind on this thread 😂

Also as a side note, please let’s not be one and done with this charity after we all (hopefully) get the mat. What Abi is doing for these brave women is incredible, and once you start to unpeel what the living conditions are like for the folks who are lucky enough to make it out, I find it hard to believe that you will not be compelled to help out Abi and these talented craftswomen.
