Heritage Auctions πΊπ², by irl1 on Jul 22, 2019 16:53:00 GMT 1, Heritage Auctions are one of if not the biggest sellers of KAWS pieces in the world.
I think he was way out of order calling it on I.G. Yes people must know when there is a fake but really calling this the day before the auction........ bullshit he waited for his moment

Heritage Auctions πΊπ², by kuni on Jul 22, 2019 17:43:15 GMT 1, All I know is I love the fact that Mr Brainwash is getting virtually ZERO love. I love it when merch vultures get their just deserves. Perhaps it's too early to make anything of it, but there are a number of possibly interesting results to come out of this auction. Nobody is warring over the Retna OG's, the Stik canvas is sitting there without a bid, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Kaws Ankle Bracelet be the first Kaws print I can remember hammering for over $50k.
As for Brainwash, I agree, the prints aren't performing for squat, but his canvas is still creeping up towards $10k and well above the low estimate. Can't imagine wanting that piece, but there's still a market for his originals.

Also some things seem to have bids on other platforms but not on Heritage. The Stik canvas has a 40k bid on artsy. Weird.
I am assuming this is one that ends online, then the pieces start in a room somewhere, am i just making that up here?
EDIT: Now not only is the 40k bid showing, the Stik is at 51k! sudden escalations!

On the Heritage (for the Stik) it states Status: No Reserve, so the 51k is a buying bid

Heritage Auctions πΊπ², by Happy Shopper on Jul 22, 2019 18:40:12 GMT 1, Actually Heritage is not bad. They are pretty good about things. Worked with them before. For urban art it's really the only major auction house that really accepts that type of art; unless you have a one of kind item from Banksy or KAWS then Sotheby's or Christies might take it. It's great that KAWS caught that one fake but they have tons that are perfectly fine. KAWS was a dick for adding the whole "hire someone who know what they are doing" bs. For a artist that is doing so well is it just me or is KAWS getting more and more bitter and unfriendly...
Thereβs at least one dodgy Kaws piece in every auction they run (or so it seems), so heβs right to call them up on it.
But, yeah, he acts like a spoiled child too!
