There was quite the variety including Hockney, Hodgkins, even the Miller surprised me...but most art collectors/dealers/galleries now are pretty savvy and even auction houses like Heritage bring out all the buyers. The accessibility people have these days really makes it hard to find deals these days.

Many pages of sun-bleached miro prints etc....stuff that predator wholesalers buy to pawn off on tourists.

Heritage Auctions πΊπ², by Matt on Jul 4, 2017 9:30:42 GMT 1, Hi All,
Has anyone dealt with them as buyer and / or seller ?
Am wondering whether they are disorganised, plain incompetent, or running a scam a la "Paddle 8 / Auctionata"...
A month ago I put in a bid (via Artsy) on a piece (skate deck). I won. After a week of sending them emails, I finally got confirmation of winning, and a few days later I finally got an invoice.
Before paying the invoice I asked for details regarding packing and shipping. I always do this to avoid any surprises of bad service or overcharging
It has now been 3 weeks of back and forth emails, with 5 different people at HA, who assure me they are "working on a quote" to get this shipped
It is a f'in skate deck, from the US to the UK...Amazon sells perfect sturdy boxes to ship these, and UPS Expedited or Fedex Priority will have it here in 48 hours
Am now starting to wonder whether I should go through with this at all...quite reticent to send them several thousand dollars !
EDIT : BTW if anyone knows the seller of the Hirst deck with the 9 spots and small shark that I bought, I would love to know what HA is telling him / her as to why the lot is still not done with

Heritage Auctions πΊπ², by jluhiex on Jul 5, 2017 22:37:43 GMT 1, Heritage pricing is a bit wonky (on the higher side) but shipping was done directly through the auction house and very reasonable priced. They shipped out a 90cm x 80cm sheet flat packed for $45usd. I can only speak for domestic sales as I am US based. They are a decent sized auction house with 5 branches located in the US, and they actual take physical consignments rather than artnet/paddle8 middlemen auctions. Hopefully you can get things sorted.

Heritage Auctions πΊπ², by bpm on Jul 6, 2017 0:45:31 GMT 1, I'd regard myself as something of a long-time customer of theirs. They are a large, possibly the largest, collectibles auction house in the world. It surprises me that they're selling anything through Artsy as they always try to drive traffic to their multitude of websites. They have been dabbling in art for a few years now but the lion's share of their transactions will be collectibles-based. With all that said, they automate as much of the buying process as they can through their own website so it's no surprise to me there are communication difficulties through Artsy. If it's any consolation, they do package and ship well; and you *should* eventually get a response. Calling may be your best bet, though.

Heritage Auctions πΊπ², by Matt on Jul 6, 2017 1:00:07 GMT 1, Thanks.
To be clear there has been no communication with Artsy. All my emails have been with Heritage Auctions.
Unfortunately after several weeks of not being able to sort a simple shipping quote and answer simple questions, I do not trust them one bit to carry this out.
Maybe they are great domestically and should stick to that for now...
Thanks.

Just wanted to set the record straight. Heritage have called to apoplogize for the customer service issue, and have offered some compensation which I appreciate and find very fair.
They have assured me all will go smoothly from now.

You would think that whoever the seller is would have ample photos for them to post? I may be wrong, but I believe Heritage requires the works to be in their possession. If that's the case it should be a rather quick turnaround you'd think. But who knows.

truly βmintβ Banksy prints are rare and should be priced accordingly - itβs always good to do your due diligence when purchasing as galleries and auction houses are not always as transparent, in regard to actual condition, as we would like them to be
