in the days of GWRB, signed prints could stay up for several months. unsigned, years in some cases.

having seen the split canvases at the Santa's Ghetto show near Carnaby St, I was not that impressed and not overly keen on paying £350 so asked staff if a print was going to be made, to which I was told yes. So i waited for that instead. to this day, i much prefer the prints.

as for the sale, hope this sets a new benchmark for a wonderful print.

it's a wonderful thing when a person buys an artists work because they love it right from the very early days with no financial investment thoughts, then are rewarded with knowing they have a valuable piece as time moves forward and can either sell or own something that many couldn't afford today.

An unsigned Girl With Balloon sold today for approx £250k. Fantastic print, but you may have to get this out the frame, I've seen black mats bleed into prints. Especially if you've had it for 10 years like this.

Hope you find your match but it will definitely be easier for you to sell it and buy what you want directly.

Hard for me to conceive throwing cash on top of an important signed print edition under 150 for an unsigned print ed of 600... And I imagine I wouldnt be the only one thinking that. Cash helps avoid these emotional comparisons.
