It feels like that at the moment, just not many originals on the market recently. Everyone is holding on to them. I suspect its only a matter of time until all originals pull away and out of reach from print buyers. Heavy Weaponry at Bonhams soon and of course the Show me the Monet at Sothebys.

i have a white signed Morons print and a Jack and Jill signed print. I have an unsigned silver flags and unsigned i fought the law.


Incredibly back in the day all i actually wanted was a signed "Girl with a balloon" to give to my daughter as a gift but even back in 2010 they were always more expensive than i wanted to pay, lol. Therefore i ended up buying a signed Jack and Jill print instead which was a classic print. Let me know if any take your fancy and cash injection but open to ideas. Personally i think the Morons signed print is going to come of age because of the timing of this release just before the art market crash. i am London based btw. Cheers.

Hi, I'm looking for some advice from you all please. I bought an unsigned GWRB direct from POW back in the day. It was framed professionally and has hung on my wall since. However, I notice that the glass is not spaced from the print. There is no surround mount. I'm a bit worried about damaging it by removing it from the frame in case it has stuck to the glass - is this a legitimate concern? Ideally I would like to have it reframed to gallery standard but not honestly sure how to go about it. Interested to hear what anyone else would do or if anyone has experience of this.

The recent auction results have made me think about just taking it down and storing it in one of these (http://www.artpakk.com/our-products/artpakk-size-3/). I had thought about trying to get hold of a West Country Prince replica to hang in the same place (heresy?!). Can't seem to find any WCP GWRB available just now either (without paying £400+).

I’d send it straight to Bignell. Even if it isn’t stuck to the glass, it’s been framed for 15? Years. Could be other issues your unaware of.. Bignell can unframe it safely and address any issues should they arise.

I would proceed with extreme caution.
Best to bring it to Bignell and have them sort it.
Maybe it needs some TLC anyway, which will always be worth it.

WCP releases prints every now and then. Just wait for a new batch and get one for 60 quid.
Or hey, get 2!

I had exactly the same worry with ours a few years back which hung in the kids room until the value got too silly. Fortunately that came out perfect when i took it out of the frame myself, albeit yours is now worth a lot more so tread with real care. Key issue is probably more likely to be fading, dependent on how much sunlight it has gotten over the years, and the edge hidden under the frame. 

I also replaced it with the WCP print which i picked up off someone on here, it makes for a nice reminder what was once mine! I have had a few regrets with the current prices but.. then i remember i bought something for £90, and sold it for £20k, which allowed the wife a year off working a crappy job to retrain as a teacher, which she now loves. So, all in all, still a great trade.

Nah just kidding, been crying myself to sleep all week ;-)

Thanks very much for the information. I've looked at Graham Bignell and the work looks perfect. I live in Scotland so might need to wait till post COVID to get it down to London. Not sure how to go about it transporting it or how I'd feel about posting it. First world problems etc...

I did the same and went to Bignall’s. They did a fantastic job unframing and plumping up my prints. They take their time so expect to wait 6-8 weeks.

Purple girl with balloon sold for 849750 £ at Sotheby's and it set a new benchmark for Banksy print prices. Expect in near future 3x price rise of Banksy artworks and prints. It is very realistic that his artwork "show me the monet" will smash price expectations by many times at Sothebys on October 21. But it's not about prices it's about streetart, and street life vibes. Personally i believe Banksy is our modern times streetart Picasso and his artworks are invaluable.

The only reason the Monet will sell well above the estimate is because the estimate is a load of bull.

It should be at least 3 times what they have on it that's the way all the big three auction houses work

Not sure what the relevance of the post is, but Bonhams have another GRBW in 2 weeks. I suspect he won't reach the heady heights of recent weeks and everyone will be claiming the bubble has burst
