USPS is usually right around $20-$25 for non tracked international tubes with the higher $40-$50 range for tracked tubes. Not including insurance. 

Not sure how you are ending up in the $250+ range.

I think that kind of misses the point.

I haven’t dealt with Gagosian before but the story this week about the lawsuit brought against them and Koons is troubling. That kind of art buying is way out of my league. Let’s hope there’s more to it than meets the eye and there is a good resolution

I've bought from Gagosian and not had a problem, they are massive, read a little bit about the lawsuit, looks like a disgruntled billionaire suing a couple of other billionaires. If anyone is surprised about Koons being in it for the money then they really don't know anything about him. I believe he used to be a Wall Street trader until he figured out how to make more money selling art.

Yes I was ok with Gagosian but the shipping fee is bonkers, I trust it’s a mistake in the webshop back office but it certainly stopped me in my tracks.

Happily I have never ‘got’ Koons and I wouldn’t buy anything I don’t like, even for a profit. I’d have a go at art speculators but I think it’s been a feature of the art market for at least a couple of hundred years, I guess it’s just human nature but I don’t like it.

Jonas Wood I do like and I’d like some more of his stuff around so I keep my eye out for this kind of thing.

Same thing happened to mine. I emailed them and they sent out new ones next day and they came very well packaged in a tube the second time around.

Well, a sticker doesn't really help.
I cover my shipments in orange Fragile tape and still they manage to damage bomb proof tubes.....

But that is some poor packaging indeed.
Apparantly they do not value their own product.

Also, my Retna poster arrived damaged and missing one from SF Opera...they ship even worse so watch out for them...update: they resolved the issue with proper packing and were on vacation!

I was at Gagosian an hour ago to take a look at the exhibition. Small, but good. All sold out during opening night. They decorated the shop with the Wood wallpaper which looked really cool.

Hi all! I went to Gagosian last week to see the Jonas Wood show. I also went to the shop and bought a few posters. Unfortunately some friends that asked me to buy one for them dropped out.

It was one hell of a job to get them safely out of NYC and into Europe, because Gagosian didn't have any decent tubes and the US border patrol wasn't too keen on having a few rocketshaped, cardboard tubes on the airport and on board of a plane...

So, to make a long story short: I have one poster for sale and I ask 50 GBP for it, excluding p&p.

Sending the poster to Europe will cost you either 241 USD (UPS) or 89 USD (DHL). Sending it from my place to anywhere in Europe will cost 20 GBP max. So that saves you a few tenners.
