Visit TORONTO π¨π¦ Canada Street Art, Galleries, Events, by johnnyvinyl on Jul 18, 2015 19:17:04 GMT 1, Check out LE Gallery for street/urban art. Clint Roenisch and Daniel Faria galleries are two of the hottest in the city specializing in contemporary and cutting-edge artists and they're right next to each other. Behind both galleries is Scrap Metal, a private art foundation that has some nice exhibitions of contemporary work.
Down by the lakefront, visit the Power Plant which is one of Canada's top contemporary art spaces, although it's programming has been a little bit moribund lately. Admission is free.
Unfortunately, you missed the great Basquiat exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario, but it's still worth a visit for it's amazing Thomson Collection (especially it's selection of medieval sculpture, boxwood and ivory miniatures and incredible ship models) and the contemporary galleries.

Visit TORONTO π¨π¦ Canada Street Art, Galleries, Events, by fonebone45 on Nov 18, 2017 0:04:36 GMT 1, As promised (on the introduce yourself thread the other day), here's a collection of the street art in Toronto I've taken photos of the past few years. There are a few photos from Street Art shows I've thrown at #Hashtag Gallery (which I own/operate) as well since 2012.
There's plenty more (some which I thought I had photos of...), and I'll go out and take some more photos over the next little while once I get back from Art Basel and have a bit more time to wander.

Visit TORONTO π¨π¦ Canada Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Eric Pause on Nov 18, 2017 3:16:17 GMT 1, These are great photos. I used to take a bus into Toronto before I was old enough to drive (many years ago), and my friends and I would wander around the city taking photos of all the graffiti. I still have a few shoe boxes full of those photos. Writers like Skam, Duro3, Water, EGR, Safe, Lics, Kwest, Case, Bacon, Trik, Wymp, Insight, Recka, Tokyonightrain, Mediah, Artchild, Ren, etc. Good memories! It's great to see some of these artists are still at it.

We try to show a mixture of graffiti/street art, and emerging artists in addition to more traditional stuff.
My goal is to help out the artists I can, while still throwing exciting art shows, and getting people excited about coming out to a gallery again.

I'd really like a Daser canvas but it is next to impossible to get one. As far as Toronto graffiti is concerned he and REN are the ones to get imho.

I run #Hashtag Gallery here in Toronto, and we show a lot of street art/urban art work. HashtagGallery.com is our site. We have prints, and canvases depending on the time of year (not a huge storage space here). We're working on getting a few more big name international artists to show here in the coming months.

Depends how obsessed you are with Banksy.
Who am I kidding. I'll probably go again to the Toronto version to see if anything is different.

Ill be around for pints.

Visit TORONTO π¨π¦ Canada Street Art, Galleries, Events, by fonebone45 on Jun 12, 2018 1:06:36 GMT 1, Hey guys!
I've lined up a solo show at #Hashtag Gallery with Okuda San Miguel while he's in town painting a massive mural at Carleton/Jarvis! Show will be running July 7-29, and I'll be posting details on the opening reception party shortly. The current plan is to host off site July 5th to accommodate a much larger crowd.
We'll be releasing an exclusive screen print as well, which I'll be posting details up for in the next couple days on the gallery instagram account @hashtaggallery
Hopefully you can make it out! We're at 830 Dundas St. W, Toronto. Pre-sale you can hit me up at graeme@hashtaggallery.com and I'll pass it your way end of the week.

Toronto was part of the 2010 Massive Attack/Banksy tour. Massive Attack played a very out of the way venue called the Docks and it got a rat right across the street from the venue on an easily removable sign. Perhaps the laziest placement of Banksy's career. But an actual done by Del Naja's hand banksy. It was stolen very quickly.

Visit TORONTO π¨π¦ Canada Street Art, Galleries, Events, by shy on Jul 23, 2018 4:33:01 GMT 1, cha-ching! I travelled there to see the exhibition. Some of the prints are in not that great shape! Missing quite a few prints in the exhibit. for example no donut prints, don't think I saw CYW etc...
It was an OK exhibit but nothing special. Too many people lined up.
