Hey good people, going to be in Toronto from tonight, anyone got any advice on what to see or what to get up to?

Decent galleries? Street art etc etc.......

this may be late, as you may already been there and back, but I would definitely go the Queen West section of the city. That's the artsy, interesting part of the city with loads of good book stores and record shops, and galleries. Best book store on Queen West: Pages. Also, check out Magic Pony on Queen Street. They sell a lot of the same kind of things that Kid Robot would sell in NYC. Some nice Kozyndans in Magic Pony, plus lots of other art and cool toys.

Have you checked out if anything good is on at Government? Don't forget to tip the bar girls, they get really arsey if you don't.

Queen and King are pretty cool for just wondering around.

You been to Niagara? Touristy as f**k but not too far away from there, an hour or so.

Cheers guys, I am here until Thursday night so will take that on board. I found Pages by chance, they had a ton of street art books and a few copies of Wall and Piece as well.

Man there is some seriously cool graf in the alleys off Queen St West. I was talking to some bloke in a shop and it seems that they arrange for some of it to take place, ie the alley looks great with graf all down it versus it being a crap alley! I didnt have my camera but will try and grab some pictures before I head back.

Crackawack Bogota was amazing, not like I was expecting (Mexico was pretty cool as well) and then we had a freak hail storm that brought the city to a standstill, lots of flooding and people making snowmen! It was pretty screwed up.

Hoping to get my work done early and take Thurs off to be a tourist......

Having missed out on Trolleys I treated myself to a ticket to the hockey on Sat night, it was great although I felt very English as the Toronto Maple Leafs lost on penalties.......oh and the Canadians are just too quite for my liking when it comes to supporting the team!!!

I don't remember where (god I live here, i should know) but there is supposed to be a stencil that some people claim was done by banksy, even though the pics of it looked rather suspect...I think it was of heavy weaponary....anyway, not very important, but it's out there somewhere

oh yeah, go up the CN Tower and jump up and down on the glass floor in the observation tower thingy...that always freaks people out!

err that would freak ME out if I was doing it myself. the Hilton has an outside lift and I am on the 29th floor and that is freaky enough for me!!!

There is an exhibit curated by Pharrell right now at Design Exchange called "This is not a Toy", featuring KAWS, Murakami, and a few others. (http://www.dx.org/)

AGO is the big one, but the level interest will depend on what the current exhibits are.

I haven't been to the this is not a toy but it might be a good one. I love the AGO. There is a pretty cool exhibition on now The Great Upheaval: Masterpieces from the Guggenheim Collection, 1910-1918. worth checking out. Send me a pm if you are interested in going tomorrow. I live near by, if I'm around I can get you in with my membership. 

You should also think about taking a walk through Graffiti alley. Pretty cool. I'm sure london is way better and it isn't NY but still some nice stuff Graf alley 

I would also recommend MOCCA An if you like photography The Ryerson Image Centre

Checked out Art Toronto this weekend, an art fair with 100+ contemporary galleries, and sells approx $14 million in art in a weekend, each year.  (http://arttoronto.ca/).  Took a few pics to share... 

Yves Laroche Gallery (Montreal) had a few shep originals. (Small one's pricetag was $8900 cdn I believe)



Chuck Close: 35x28" Self Portrait Woodcut edition of 70, was $42,500 USD



Robert Indiana signed print and Murakami. Indiana was $3500, small Murakami's were $2500



Oil Painting by Charles Bierk was a stunner. Think it was 60x60" Cant remember price.




Project Gallery in LA had an artist named Jeremiah Kille. Im definitely interested and keeping an eye on this dude.

Jeremiah Kille's piece somewhat looks like Conor Harrington and Chloe Early's work mashed up together. Beautiful nonetheless.

Go see 'grafitti alley' on queen street west. Other than that there are tons of galleries but hard to reccomend anything in particular without knowing your preferences. Nothing deliberately 'urban', closest to it may be Hashtag Gallery.

Also mocca is a good recco as made above but check if they are open when you are here. The museum is moving and I know they arent open for much longer in the current location.
