FWIW and IMHO etc etc I think maybe adding a mount which tied in the colour of the can tops would bring this together together... 

i only know as I love an ornate frame and went totally OTT on a free print 10 years ago and later put the brown in. It’s being freaking the kids out ever since.

I have over 20 of these in various sizes so lots of bits will be ornate framed.

Some of these guys will hate the next large two I’m having doneattje moment. Dface Union Jacked and Pure Evil Brexit 😂

I like what I like rather than what others do or feeling the need to follow the standard and get that white frame

SO I know you can grow and learn as a framer to and do better with better frame when you take it out of the gold frame and put it in a frame that is like the art.  Like banksy would have wanted.

Did Banksy put out a statement of his vision on the soups?

Where does Banksy state that set pieces should be displayed in specific frames/ specifications etc.

Has Banksy ever come out and stated he was offended by a print/poster etc displayed in a frame like this?

Good for you for doing something different! If you like it that’s really all that matters. I’m personally not a huge fan of ornate frames but I always appreciate when people break away from what seems to be the standard ikea white frames.

I think the urban art/ornate frame contrast is great but the it is secondary to a good frame/print match.

The op’s choice isn’t for me but he was obviously pleased enough with it to post it so congrats to him. I’m glad he’s pleased with it. Opinions are like assholes etc.

I went high gloss white but it lives in the kitchen and matches the cabinets 
(keeps the good lady happy)
