Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by jay4077 on Dec 5, 2017 10:54:35 GMT 1, I can't understand what all the fuzz is about. The market value of these soup cans are clearly in the £400 area, so why would anyone sell for less?

Let me think, perhaps because this is supposed to be an art forum, not an art EBay.
Let’s just picture it, you’ve been waiting for a release for weeks and the big day day arrives. Despite frantically F5ing, you are unlucky. Two minutes later on the release thread a member offers you the print for four times what it cost them two minutes earlier. They were never interested in the print, and went for it because of the interest generated on the thread. They just wanted to make some cash.
That sound ok to you

The thing is this forum is fucked
15 % are into it because they like the art
85% are into it because they can make money from the people that like the art
(survey done Mid Oct asking a random selection of members totalling 1)
So it is what it is
If people sell below market, they will be snapped up and straight away advertised at market
Shark infested waters peoples :-)
There are solutions to this, but nothing will be done as the bickering keeps the traffic flowing in (maybe)

You’re probably right Bren but it feels right to shout about it.
Problem is the more of these people on here, the more the good guys get drowned out.
The lunatics have taken over the asylum

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by jay4077 on Dec 5, 2017 12:50:57 GMT 1, But how about the guy who is currently trying to sell Banksy Toxic Mary for £9K? the same print was sold at Bonhams last week for £6K. What was the cost at release? should he be flamed for trying to make a substantial profit?
I don't see any difference in selling a TM for 9k or a soup can for 400. Sorry. Most things on here are sold with a profit. If you don't like how the market mechanism works on certain prints, then move on.

Market forces will dictate whether that will sell or not. Getting the best price for your piece is not a problem.
Buying prints at source, using this place as freebay, flipping to fellow members is.
If you can’t see that you must be either dim or a flipper

Let’s use your analogy.
You choose your apartment (it’s a flat really), just before you buy it I gazump you and offer it to you for more. Your next choice apartment, same happens and then again.
We then meet up in our local club and I want to sit next to you and discuss the housing market over a drink.
All good?

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by jay4077 on Dec 5, 2017 14:25:24 GMT 1, Well Winks, I don't get why it's okay to buy a Toxic Mary for £74.99 in 2004 just to stuff in your portfolio. 13 years later you dig it out from under your bed and put it on sale for a profit of £8.925.01! Clearly that was always thought as an investment.
So in your mind he's the good guy trying to "getting the best price" and Hendy is the bad guy "buying prints at source, using this place as freebay". In your opinion, then how long should Hendy hold on to the print, so he could avoid being called a flipper?
