Hi all,

Elliot's eagerly awaited new print, Rembrandt Pop, will go on sale at Hard Canvas next week.

The Rembrandt Pop series features three editions of 15 prints, each a slightly different colourway. Elliot revisits an icon of high art culture and embellishes with a little 21st century irony. The series mimics the style of Warhol by employing its form and colour to investigate a classic `high art´ image. The intention is both to contrast two artistic traditions and to draw attention to the enduring nature of Rembrandt´s fame - more than his 15 minutes.

The prints themselves are Elliot's most technically complex pieces to date. There are a total of 14 screens used to create each print and each run is distinctive using different grade paper and eight different colours. Allowing for colour selection, drying time, mistakes and several crises of faith each run took a week to complete.

You beautiful people are the first to see photos of all 3 pieces. We reallly hope you like them.

Can you produce this as a screen print?

crises of faith? don't worry, it's perfectly normal for you to go through those when creating a masterpiece.

Come on hardcanvas are you really that naive, people have mentioned on this forum before about artists doing this Warhol effect thats been used over and over and the image of Rembrandt is really low quality and lacks any detail, this is just lazy and a total lack of f**king respect for the people on this forum, i think your be stuck with these for a while, you may have to give them away. The market is saturated with this kind of drivel, you can even get your own holiday snaps done in this style and printed onto a stretched canvas, i should not really need to tell you that.

Maybe with some of these comments the price of the print will stay reasonable (all Elliots previous works have been) (has anyone mentioned how much they will cost?).

these look okay to me- not sure why they have generated so much controversy. Its true that they are not massively original but they are well executed and the colours look good- i like them more than some of the recent stuff out of POW.

This Rembrant/Warhol rip off lacks of everything IMO, it´s a waste of great paper, I´d rather put up a blank Fabriano on my wall then one of these prints.

my god, this has become a pretty nasty thread. I dont mind the prints and reckon that given the edition size they will sell out quickly. i also think the image/artwork is being underrated- i'd be happy enough to put one up on my wall.

Ok, I may have told my opinion a bit nasty and if anyone feel hurt I apologize. I should maybe kept my thoughts private and not comment this piece in public. As someone took one karma point away. But I think in general that you should be able to say what you think unregarded. As it was the piece I did comment and not the artist behind it. I am sure that Elliot can do better and probably has in the past. He will get his revenge! :-)

Fair enough. Ive also lost a karma point- presumably because I dont mind the prints. People need to relax a bit!
