Hi all. The prints will be priced at £70 each and will be released on Wednesday.

fair play hard canvas- £70 is good value for an edition of 15. I'm thinking that Rembrandt 2 and 3 might be for me. Hopefully the negative feedback from some members will mean I get to buy them. So far in the last few weeks Ive missed out on stef- the pirates one, beejoir (of course) and mantis. grrrr.

Each of the 6 faces are printed individually - some with two colours in them, some with 3. If you count them up on the basis, you should be able to see 14 screen 'passes' per print.

I don't know anything about screenprinting, but since all six faces seem to be identical (apart from the colours) and since you printed each one seperately anyway, couldn't this print have been done with just 3 screens?

Perhaps the reference to '14 screens' was confusing - my fault. It was not intended to.... There are not 14 physically different screens used per print - but there are 14 individual passes through a smaller number of screens for each print. Each screen being around the size of just 1 of the faces in the picture.

A similar effect Could have been achieved in a few different ways (such as, I guess, 8 large screens - one per colour), but I think that Elliot like to suffer for their art.

It is of course possible to have one screen that could be used to print 2 or 3 colours even at the same time, could get quite awkward though.

Same screen though isn't it, you'd need your head examining to use 14 screens on this. How many actual screens did you process, 3 ?

My local photocopy store does this effect on holiday snaps stretched on canvas for 40 quid !

I know this one isn't your cup of tea, Nu and I'm cool with that, but I'm not sure I'm bought into the comparison between this hand made screen print and canvas with this 'effect' bought from your local photocopy store.

I could buy a Banksy 'effect' stencil on eBay for 8 quid. But I wouldn't.

...anyway - I hope you like our next print edition more. I'll just have to can the holiday snaps idea.

Agreed, yes you could, but then you'd also expect an aggressively negative response from a bunch of knowledgable urban art lovers when you tried to flog it to them on their chat boards

and for the record, I suspect the overtly negative response is not directed at Elliot nor at his work but at the company selling it, I think most see it as an insult to their intelligence. So please inform Eliott that it's not personal and that it's more about you, than him

(I'd say most on here respect anyone who has the balls and energy to get his/her head down to creating some artwork, good or bad)

Don't know why so many on here are bashing these prints...
They might not be everyone's favourite but at least it's a nice low-run edition on good stock at a reasonable price, and if they are like the previous 2 Elliots they'll be well finished too.

Think that as mentioned above there's maybe some pre-Banksy tension going on here....!

I have to disagree on Bullingdon being well finished, the spray can was cut out poorly and wasn't even stuck on straight. Not only was it badly executed it was never mentioned which I find odd.

Hi, as a collective we understand that not everyone will like our work- criticism is all part of the process and we respect the right of everyone on here to call it like they see it.

It is though very important to us that those who do order our prints are happy with the quality/ finish of the image that they receive. To date in shipping prints from the first two editions we have received only two complaints, one print was damaged in the post, the other had slight waves in the paper. We agreed to replace both without question. If any Elliot image that you receive is damaged/ poorly finished all you ever have to do is let us know.

No offense to the artists, as I can't even draw a sailboat on a napkin, but I was reading on the Hard Canvas site, in the Elliot bio section, and it says that these artists got together to form an affordable alternative to Banksy. But, I think if you're going to do that, to try to make yourself an alternative to an artist like Banksy, there are a few things you might need to include in your art:

-irony
-social comment/criticism
-wit/humour
-and maybe even a little satire

So, instead of Warhol-ing Rembrandt (which lacks all of the above), why not, if you're fixed on the idea of using the Warhol styling, take for example some hideous artist like Thomas Kinkade and colour-way-to-death one of his terrible little cottages by the stream, and then make it a limited edition of 500,000 (like he is now doing), but only sell 10. I don't know, who am I to say, but I think that some of the displeasure shown on this forum toward this new print could be because of some of what I might have said. Or maybe it's really good, and we'll all be kicking ourselves next year!!

Hi, as a contributing member of the forum when you quote me I would expect you to at least attempt to answer the points you've quoted and not just use it as an excuse for an advert for your "customer service"

As the person with the one damaged print (thanks Royal Mail) I can atest to the excellent service from Elliot with regard to a replacement. If only some established galleries were that helpfull I would be £900 richer.

I don't want to put words in Elliot's mouth but the point I think he is making is that if any of his customers were not happy with the execution of the print they received they could of returned it for a full refund. I suspect none did.
