Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by jimmy on Jun 22, 2017 14:51:43 GMT 1, Got my prints yesterday and they look AMAZING, unfortunately though they both arrived damaged. :-( The bottom edges slid out of the cardboard sandwich and they both got creased. Really hope they kept back a few for replacements. Mine arrived damaged as well. The packaging was impressive but didn't keep the prints from moving around. I did ask about replacements and was told it was unlikely.

Massively disappointing as it looks STUNNING in the flesh, let's see how the customer service goes from here...

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by spirit on Jun 22, 2017 14:55:05 GMT 1, On the one hand you seem to be stating that the print techniques used are a cheap but flashy way to sell more prints to idiots:
Do you lot have any idea how cheap and simple it is to make a digital printout, you've been wearing ignorance like a badge of honour, this slick team can sell you anything. I'm sure there will be much more like this coming your way soon.
On the other you seem to be praising those very same techniques and are going to employ them yourself.
I felt irked by the fact that it seemed clear to me that there was much more to this than just a screen print, and I understand that to many of you this is irrelevant. I love how the glazed area is also raised by embossing, giving a convincing impression of thick paint. Digital and old methods combo is an incredible direction for art prints and I hope to try doing this myself.

Next time I hope they mount the print to the cardboard so they don't move (like Pose prints). I mean A for effort as the packaging was well thought out but unfortunately didn't hold up.

Well s**t, seems like replacements are unlikely if this many arrived damaged. The thing that kills me is that this whole thing could've been avoided with one or two pieces of tape. The rest of the packaging was great, just need to tape the pieces holding the print to keep them from sliding out. Well, if no replacements are available maybe they'll at least offer a big enough discount/refund to pay to get them repaired.

I didn't even know if it was worth to say something or not. I came on here to see if others had the same issue. I guess ill send them an email as well, I didn't know something like that could even be repaired.

The whole bottom edge is pretty much bent on both of mine. Doesn't look terrible, but when paying $1500+ for two prints, any damage is unacceptable. And, yeah, an art restorer could fix the problem but it'll probably end up costing up to a couple hundred dollars.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by avec art on Jun 22, 2017 15:33:26 GMT 1, no matter how much I try to explain myself, it only seems to make it worse. I've been mocked for enquiring about the process, so felt I had the right to poke fun back no? If I get lolled at, because I cared about how they were made, I think I can lol back. The question of cost is part of a wider dialogue between screen printing and digital methods. So that jibe, you seem to be hanging on was a cheap shot and deleted, but not before I was quoted for posterity. If you look generally at the comments I have made I think I've been very praiseworthy of both the print and the techniques, but if those effects can be achieved through screen printing, it would undermine the screen printing tradition. Never called the print flashy, and I don't see why I wouldn't want to experiment with combo techniques myself when it looks so good, it's not the first time I've thought about it. I was just curious to know how they were produced as it wasn't initially made clear to me. Don't think I've claimed to be well versed in printing have I mla? It's my lack of knowledge which encourages me to question.

It was your other inflammatory comments that opened you up to being mocked.
I still find it disappointing that the promoter of the release was not up front about how the print was produced. I don't discriminate on technique, but I like to know what exactly it is that I'm buying.

You have now officially won the 2017 printing process par excellence competition......  Collect your badge and a tube of smarties on the way out....  I could go on, but life is too short. Look I'm sorry if I have caused offence to anyone, I was not intending to be inflammatory, but to dig a little bit, there are no alterer motives.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by jimmy on Jun 22, 2017 15:59:18 GMT 1, With this many damaged I wonder if printing a small run of replacements is an option. I was offered 100 euro or a refund. I want the print but getting it repaired for 100 euro isn't going to happen. Last i checked it was over $200 USD and you again risk damage in transit. Pretty bummed about the whole thing. I hate the feeling when you open a shipment and the first thing you see is a big crease along the bottom.

That sucks man. And kind of crazy too because the rest of the packaging was actually really good. Someone must've stepped on it or something.

It certainly doesn't look like there will be a lot of happy people as it looks like they only have 2 of each for replacement prints.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by gmidd on Jun 22, 2017 16:48:11 GMT 1, Definitely not looking good. We'll see what they offer. They should've invested in a couple rolls of tape and they could've avoided this whole thing. Definitely doesn't bode well considering this is their first high profile release. Whether I order from them again or not will depend heavily on how they handle this situation.

It might be worth asking them if they will pay for the restoration if you get a quote. It's unlikely they want to refund loads of people, they will then have to pay return shipping costs and decide what to do with a load of damaged prints...

Same here. Whilst it is very much a privileged problem to have, we have all felt the pain of receiving something we were excited about, damaged. Instead of thinking about framing options you are having to think about returns or restoration. Not fun. Hope you all get this resolved satisfactorily. This was not a cheap print by any means. $100 discount seems poor imo. I think they should reprint some, and send them to you on proof of damage and evidence that you have destroyed the damaged one (to protect the integrity of the edition size).
Feel awful for you guys about the damaged prints... hope it's resolved somehow Same here. This would be the ideal option. A $100 refund will likely not pay for restoration and it'll probably cost them that much for me to ship them back then they're stuck with a bunch of damaged prints that they'll have to eat, sell at a discount or pay for restoration themselves. Reprinting damages seems like the best option for everyone.

Not sure why they thought the way they shipped would be safe. Glad mine arrived without incident, but I feel hesitant to even store the print in the box for now just in case.

Those boxes looked bullet proof. Sometimes just a couple pieces of cardboard do the trick just fine . My 150cm Katrin from Laz showed up perfect, good old standard shipping techniques.

If they would've just taped together the two pieces of cardboard that actually held the prints I'm sure it would've eliminated most if not all of the damages. The rest of the packaging was fine it just wasn't tight enough to keep the prints from sliding around.

Inkjets with embossing, gloss and screenprint though, so, unfortunately not as easy as hitting print. Still hoping for this option though.
