Received mine yesterday and Wow this print looks awesome! So happy i changed my mind after the sales and contacted the gallery. They told there might be be some cancellations. After one week the gallery contacted me there was one of each. Prefered the Waving Miracle – Magic Mind…and i'm not dissapointed

Sooner or later all of the collectors and galleries faced a situation like this. So its always good to have 2 prints left from (larger) edition for such issues. Or replace it with AP...

Who cares how much it cost to produce. What difference does it make honestly? For me personally I like the artist, I like the image, and the print came out looking amazing. I've not heard a single person complain about the quality once received. I'd happily buy more prints of this quality. At the end of the day it is much more than just a digital print out.

I completely agree with you. Especially with Originals. Last week I walked into Pace Gallery and insisted that they discount the Hockney painting I was looking at. Judging by the cost of the canvas, stretchers, and the oil paints, I argued that it should cost no more than $250.

Btw, I do NOT recommend purchasing from Pace Gallery as they tend to cackle at their potential customers for no apparent reason. RUDE!

To be clear .. I am not. What I am saying is, that techniques which can now be achieved by machines are far more amazing than they were just a few years ago when giclees were first appearing on the art market. While me among others are wowed by the look of these, it is something that can be relatively cheaply done (as we both agree not that it really matters). But I think there is a very worthwhile discussion to be had .. the influence of modern printing methods (and I have boring stuff to say on the subject) but this thread is not the place for it. It seems to me as some of you are searching for a hater or similar to take somesort of moral position on and I think you're probably barking up the wrong tree.

Surprisingly, people both individually and collectively, don't like being told you think they are ignorant and naive.

Regarding the print, the question that should be asked by the printer when asked to reproduce an existing original is "how can I best utilise the tools and techniques at my disposal to achieve the desired result" - in this instance I think the printer has excelled himself (and I say that as someone who has worked closely in a professional capacity with printers for 25 years).

You are right that the costs of production are a factor (one of many, and certainly not the main one) in the cost of the artwork, but I think you underestimate the costs associated with this particular print. Having 4 separate processes - screen printed background, then digital, then varnish, then emboss is a very different thing from just knocking out a digital or say a 4 colour screen print.

Artcave I agree does make some good points but it also comes across as they have some sort of vendetta against this particular set of prints or artist.
Murakami, Harland and Hockney release less technical prints for above this price point yet they are (mostly) still worth even more on the secondary. Is this not some sort of evidence that artist or even image sometimes will come before method or technique used on people's preferences. I know I would rather have a good image that was easily made than a poor image made with blood sweat and tears.
People ( me included ) will pay good cash for prints where the artist can't even be arsed to sign it after the process is over and it looks like Katrin has overseen the whole process tinkering with the aspects until she Was happy with end product.
I am yet to see the prints so I can't comment on whether or not it lives up to its promise but they sure look fine from the photos I've seen and looks are the most important thing when it comes to art.

Got my prints yesterday and they look AMAZING, unfortunately though they both arrived damaged. :-( The bottom edges slid out of the cardboard sandwich and they both got creased. Really hope they kept back a few for replacements.

I felt irked by the fact that it seemed clear to me that there was much more to this than just a screen print, and I understand that to many of you this is irrelevant.

I love how the glazed area is also raised by embossing, giving a convincing impression of thick paint. Digital and old methods combo is an incredible direction for art prints and I hope to try doing this myself.

It's a pity that to inquire about the technique is to invite the pitchfork crew to silence healthy discussion, and write off natural curiosity as a moan.

You're kind of spinning things now. You made offensive comments, calling out people's ignorance, while looking totally ignorant yourself. There is more to a well produced giclee than pressing print on a computer. For someone so well versed in printing as you claim, you should know that.
