There is a print version already of this image. The show had 10 of each one with some APs. Size might be different this time?

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by Hairbland on Nov 12, 2016 16:19:08 GMT 1, Whatson's new thread interest down dramatically from 2 years ago.
I'd suggest his 15 minutes has peaked.
Compare him to Ben Eine, who seems to be struggling with what to do next, with cashing in opportunities temporarily (?) replacing new ideas. But the difference between Eine and Whatson, in my opinion, is that Eine in the moment has created some key pieces (mainly his "Missing W Alphabet" work, again imo) that find placement in important group shows that document the movement / history of urban art. I don't expect to see Whatson in those shows.
Really a matter of instant coffee versus french press.

Whatsons eBay sales tell a different story and he sells out at any gallery he send art. I'd argue the market for Whatson is stronger than ever. Especially more than Eine...

Eine in my opinion had his 15 mins of fame ages ago..... quite surprised he hasnt gone to another alphabet to continue the (in my opinion) boring and drab work.
Mr Watson's effort as depicted in the picture above is bold, vibrant and colourful ... I have not made my mind u[ yet if it's one I would like to go for and am struggling to see this on a wall in my house or office but I do like it.

Firstly French press is not all it's cracked up to be.... that can taste shit if not done right and secondly there is instant coffee out there that taste ok.....
if if however you said it was 'camp' coffee then that would really be a disparaging remark! That does indeed look, taste and smell horrid.

There's simply no discussion here. And the disrespect to Eine is shocking. Eine is rightly held as one of the founders of the urban art genre and that won't change if he never sells any art again. His walls are all over the world and are both legal and not so legal, and his style is instantly recognisable. Then there's Whatson who dabbles with a bit of photoshop to make a few nice pretty little contrived images for £275 a go.

he maybe held by many (not me) for his work.... I just don't like it and yes he has walls everywhere but so what....
you maybe right on watson and of course your entitled to your opinion but I like the print.
oh and I don't have one Eine in my house. I don't want one.... you can push the 'been there from the start' argument as long as you want.... doesn't mean it will rock my world.

To say that Eine had had his fifteen minutes of fame misunderstands the fact that he has had sustained global credibility in the scene for more like fifteen years. Try asking your local Graf or urban artist if they've even heard of Whatson. Then try asking the same question if they've heard about the guy that does letters on shutters.
Print sales do not and never will define the relevance of an artist and even if Eine had never released anything commercially, he'd have achieved more in just his London walls alone than Whatson. Who incidentally is a throughly nice guy in real life, and his art is fine. It's just not comparable.

Your focus on whatson is really not that interesting..... my view was that whatson's latest effort is again in my opinion much much better than eine's.
Personally I don't dispute his involvement in the art from an early year, i can see some of his work on walls and appreciate it BUT I would not want it in my house. His last few efforts have been a complete disappointment and I'd like to see him try some new avenues.
subjective is art! And also opinions on art!

Agree with you @letisss
It's not a matter if someone willing to hang or not his work on the wall or whatever..
What is objective is objective: Eine fame is reknown worldwide as a precursor of urban modern lettering. I do like some of Whatson works, but feel his art quite boring recently.

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by nobokov on Nov 13, 2016 19:05:03 GMT 1, His Dancer main edition is one of my favorite images of all time- maybe the favorite.
I hope that he'll create more pieces with movement without obscuring the faces of his subjects. I know visage-covering is working for Chevrier, but I feel that the beauty is in the facial expressions. I don't understand why he painted an ornate tiger face and then covered it up. I feel that the pieces that work best are the ones in motion like Dancer, Equilibrium, Climber and may some SNIK collabs.
I just didn't care for the background color in this print and I would've liked it better if the vase was more prominent and in better proportion to the flowers. With all those flowers, I'm guessing that vase would just topple over.

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by disappointed on Nov 14, 2016 15:07:07 GMT 1, To say that Eine had had his fifteen minutes of fame misunderstands the fact that he has had sustained global credibility in the scene for more like fifteen years. Try asking your local Graf or urban artist if they've even heard of Whatson. Then try asking the same question if they've heard about the guy that does letters on shutters.Print sales do not and never will define the relevance of an artist and even if Eine had never released anything commercially, he'd have achieved more in just his London walls alone than Whatson. Who incidentally is a throughly nice guy in real life, and his art is fine. It's just not comparable. They well know him as a writer from well before he starting putting letters on shutters.
But history is not all it's cracked up to be. Look at blek - a very long history, pioneering even, and with a couple of classic images under his belt but who has, for far too long, been living off a quote and some appallingly uninspired and insipid art.
Whatson, on the other hand, is simply a waste of paint/ink. It's 'urban' art for the IKEA shopper.
