What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by Dellboyy on May 14, 2009 18:44:50 GMT 1, Mine was this:
I found out about pow from a couple of guys at work who were into Banksy, i preferred the Faile stuff which was sold out, stumbled across the faile site and bought this for about £120.. remember thinking it was a stupid amount to spend on a picture at the time! :-)

;D Remembering hasn't been my greatest strength for the past 15 years or so either! ;D I think I remember Fusion. It was associated with World Dance at one stage. It's all a bit blurry though!!!

Had it hanging in a ikea frame for years. To be totally honest I actually wished it didnt say 'Faile' at the bottom when I got it lol £75 for a signed one just seemed like daylight robbery!

Remember Fusion very well, still see part of the fusion crew, just yesterday in fact.Trying to do a one hour job and started listening to some old mixes with him, about 4 hours later the job was completed.
I think hand on heart if i had a time machine forgot all that go back and buy Art nonsense, I would go back to the good old days of raving, but this time remembering not take another 'one' so quickly and wait another 30 minutes or so
I'm stuck either Applause or Morons

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by instinct on May 14, 2009 22:06:25 GMT 1, First was a futura original from marharishi store, managed to get another futura original for free with it... i wanted to hang both together so was pressing and pressing for a price on the second. After much pressing i got a call from Hardy Blechman (owner Maharishi) saying "futura did that for us for free, we couldnt possibly sell it to you so just come and pick it up... its yours". I thought to myself if thats the culture behind this whole scene then i am hooked! and i was... many more paintings and prints later im still going, trying to carry forward and promote that same idea!

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by Guy Denning on May 15, 2009 12:59:30 GMT 1, 1981, La Rochelle in France and I spent all my remaining holiday money (50 francs - which was about a fiver I think) on a little expressionistic landscape. Oil on cotton, stretched over wood and long lost now. Being a pencil squeezer myself I'm in the lucky position of frequently (not always) being able to swap work, which makes up for also never having enough disposable in the past to even buy the cheapest early BANKSY prints. But the first thing we bought when we had some moolah was this lovely and mahoosive Simmond's four piece screenprint.

Slammer - Wow! Quite incredible, thanks for sharing. Also love the street scene by Ken Keeley, although now has a strangely haunting vibe with the twin towers in it - guess that day won't ever go away....
My first foray was really an Art Republic driven purchase of Banksy WSM in 2004, I sold this to Howlin Hooker back in 2007 and have rued that day ever since. All's not lost though, Hooker being a bloody nice bloke contacted me and told me he was thinking of selling and just this morning I bought it back. It's on my wall! I paid too much in 2004 but they switched me on to the 'scene' and for that I'm thankful.

I e-mailed Faile a while ago about the still to be released editions of the above and was told they will be released at some point but after all the Lost in Glimmering Shadows work has been released, so it means there'll be approx another 25 (in 5 editions of 5) released at some point although I'd imagine they'll be slightly more than £120 and pretty popular on FairQ.
