I have a few of his LFs. The paper stock is thicker than the standard 18*24, and it the quality is primo. You get what you pay for.

So 450 18x24, 50 Large Formats, 15 HPM paper, 15 HPM wood, 15 HPM metal, 1000 Unnumbered/signed 24 x 36 and and now another 89 in Large Format slightly uglier. Is it just me or something going on with her neck... Plus all the APs which is another 45-50 prints. All one image.

He'll probably do a letterpress next.. At least it gives everyone in the world a opportunity to own the same signed image which is good and bad.

You will be able to get most of his large formats soon for retail or less on eBay. These are huge and very hard to store. Try shipping them as well. Have fun re rolling these bad boys. Unless you are going frame it and enjoy it which i hope people do; there is no point in getting these. This image will do better than other but still. At this point HPM or 1/1 are really the only way to go with Shepard Fairey.

What is an HPM on paper? I've only seen them on wood and they usually are /6.

This LF is the only release that's actually based on the original canvas he created for this image.

This is going to be very nice. Something you can use to anchor a room. I calculate the $45 price of a typical obey print to be or about 10 cents per square inch. An HPM priced is $8.3 per square inch. An HPM is an edition of 6 or 1.3% of a typical edition of 450. 1.3% of $8.3 is about 11 cents per square inch. This is priced at 75 cents per square inch. An edition of 89 is about 20% of 450. 20% of 75 cents is about 15 cents per sq inch. If you are following my math there is 40% premium over the standard editions and a 36% premium over hpm. I think that makes sense if it is true the quality is better than his typical screen prints- Under 1k is an obscene price for a well known artist and as prices go up, typically the cost per square inch decreases. Anybody use similar logic in evaluating the price of an edition?

You've science the shít out of this. I guess you are analysing if these LFs are undervalued or overpriced

I used comparables instead to save the time and be more accurate.

The WTP were the same size and quality, ed 50 cost $700 in 2017.
The WTF were same size and quality again ed 75 cost $750 in 2018.
The 30th anniversaries same size and quality, ed 89 cost $900 in 2019.

Based on those two and not including the other LFs that released over the last 12 months, the 30th anniversaries are priced fairly. It would have been better if he kept the price at $750 since he boosted the edition size by 20% to 89. But y'know, biznezz.

the first thing I said when I saw them at the damaged show was "I hope he makes these versions into prints". So this large format is the only place to get the collaged version of this piece.

I usually also factor in fiber content and $/oz.

I usually also factor in fiber content and $/oz.

25 out 30 of these will be on Ebay for $900 (retail) or less in a few weeks/months.

Unless, you are going to pay a bit to frame and hang these massive prints on your wall... they will be difficult to store and not fun to re roll for the resell. This is going to kill the value of any 18 x 24 version as well.

For a person/artist who is supposedly a big environmentalist...., I don't know any another artist that uses more paper (trees) and ink (chemicals) that Shepard... maybe JR.

He's a workhorse and an unbelievable artist who I respect, but this to me is just a really bad move on Shepard Fairey and to his fans that collect his work.

I doubt it does anything to the 18x24 market with the same image. The run size is small enough and the price is large enough to price out a bunch of Obey collectors who are use to his much lower price tag.

These Large Formats will sit for awhile. This is the first time he's releasing so many, at once, including all the ones he sold last year. Some of the images from his damaged show like Defend Dignity was released in so many different style and formats.

This is the time then to pick them up for 900 or less on ebay; if you are all correct. Many of the Large Formats from last year are dropping in price and you can find for close to cost on Ebay. There is no sign of them increasing in price this year or next. Possibly in a decade...sure.

This absolutely affected the 18 x 24 versions of these prints. Are you kidding. The prices on the versions he did in large format DROPPED. They were selling for much more before he released them. Sure again WAIT 20 YEARS and yes it will go up. Enjoy holding these massive prints for that long without damaging them.

Btw you can call PACE today and pick a lot of his Large Formats HPM he did for them just sitting there at their store now for years. They are all on Artsy and the same price the were listed for years ago. No increase. No one is buying these for a reason.

Oh yeah... and he did PACE print versions as well for some images... add those to the count for each version as well. Some are still at asking price from 2015. Even some released in 2012 are at the same asking price. Again I respect and love his work but you need to open you eyes to how he's releasing all these prints. 

If you are framing and hanging these that is one thing. If you are storing ANY of them in a binder or whatever that's different. Only a few of this major iconic prints will increase drastically in price. The rest will just sit for a long time. Make sure you select only the best and rarest piece when it comes to Shepard Fairey is my opinion.
