Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Coach on Jan 26, 2016 16:31:16 GMT 1, To protest, and to raise awareness of what's going on. I would assume that the whole world and their dog knew about the Calais jungle a long time before this Banksy promotion. So what is going on HappyShopper with the migrants in Calais and the tear gas? Whats the real story and truth about this? Banksy just linked to a short video which does not show the whole picture. I doubt the police in France are interested in firing teargas at people for no reason and wasting time and money. They do it when provoked.
I didn't know that this had happened. It was not mentioned in the news that I listen to. So it raised my awareness. I cannot know for sure but I suspect a lot of other people who now know also didn't. The reason given in the Guardian article is that the police wanted to create a buffer zone between the camp and the motorway. We can all have our own views as to whether the way it was done was acceptable.

The migrants want to be near the trucks and Calais port and free to move around locally as they wish. The government wants to restrict their movements, get them to move into the container homes and clear the whole camp away.
It could go on for years.

However i alway try to find the quickest end point to save wasting time...
why are these camps there? Why do they want to get to the UK when they are already in a safer country.
if i had come on a boat risking my life to get a better future, i would be happy with any civilised country. other countris have offered to take them, but they are not interested. Those in the camps in france are already a million times better off than being in syria by just being in the country of france and europe. why not stop there? What are their reasons for wanting to come here, who is selling them this lie.
the reason those camps exist is solely those wanting to come here. For what?
Those who went to germany, why did they want to go to germany when they could have stayed in greece or any of the countries they passed through on the way to germany.
beggars cannot be choosers so they cannot have it all their own way. it is not their right to do anything, just like it is not my right to just travel freely anywhere in the world to countries with entry requirements. You deal with it, not play the poor me game

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by kaos on Jan 26, 2016 17:40:27 GMT 1, I am absolutely disgusted by Denmark passing a law to confiscate Refugees' assets.
If Mr Banksy is reading this, another work of art please outside the Danish Embassy - a line of refugees being robbed by Danish highwaymen - in Nazi uniforms, perhaps.
I am appalled.

Didn't know whether to laugh or cry while watching that!! Can just imagine the conversation prior back at the office.....
'Guys, got a job for you today, looks like there's a Banksy on our boards at that shop we boarded up, could be worth tens of thousands of pounds!' 'What do you want us to do boss?' 'I want you to go and remove it. Just remember there will be loads of press and people there and we need to look professional' 'Ok boss, will do! Any special tools we need to take? 'Well, those guys at the Banksy Forum ship prints that are only worth £100 by wrapping them up carefully in tissue paper, rolling them in kraft paper and putting them in a solid cardboard tube and this is worth thousands!' 'Boss, we ain't got any of that!' 'What have you got? 'A tyre lever, a flat back lorry and not a brain cell between us! 'That'll do, off you go!'

Confiscating refugees assets or confiscating migrants assets?
Is Denmark targeting Syrian refugees who have made their way to Denmark or is Denmark targetting all nationality migrants?
It's to do with some law about having assets and claiming benefits in Denmark that applies to Danish people so they decided to apply this law too all migrants into Denmark.
Personally I do not believe that confiscating assets of refugees or migrants into Denmark is the right thing to do.
I'm more concerned with security than money and with all the threats from Isis and jihadists and events that happened recently in France and europe.
That all migrants should be interviewed and all their mobile phones checked to make sure they have no jihadist support content on them.
Plus it is also a way of a migrant confirming which country they have come from by them showing who they have been in contact with in which country.
It's a bit big brother I know but considering some have declared war on us it's something that can aid in security and catching bad people if there are any that want to enter posing as refugees or migrants.

I get the feeling the owners have a lot of money anyway and a sale of this piece won't make any diffrence to their income.

Of course posts and members can be removed from the forum, but is that always the right thing to do? The World is full of people of different beliefs, religions, backgrounds and lifestyles, and we can all learn a little from each other even if we totally disagree. At the moment I feel it's better to let you all debate and discuss these types of subjects.
