To see so many HUGE Basquiat in one big space like Gagosian is quite an exprerience (even for not a huge fan like me) ! Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures sorry ;-(

Released in 1983 and limited to 500 copies, Rammellzee and K-Rob's "Beat Bop" is one of the rarest and most sought after hip hop albums in existence due to Jean-Michel Basquiat's sleeve art. Both the sleeve and the album (which plays at 45RPM) are in VG to VG+ condition, and the run-out grooves have the correct first-pressing etchings from Tartown Records... all of the recorded sales on eBay that note the etchings and claim to be originals do not have the correct etchings. This copy is 100% authentic.

My price is $1,199 shipped and insured within the USA, and I'm including the 2001 re-issue that plays at 33RPM... I had both the original and the re-issue framed to display both sides of the artwork and would occasionally play the re-issue for anyone that asked to hear the track.

Thanks.  I'm now actually going to be in NYC the beginning of April, so will go view it (and see if I can sneak a few photos...).  What were your thoughts?

Top exhibition of his works if anyone is around Hong Kong def worth a visit. Been meaning to for ages and went today. Stunning work and an amazing collection of pieces. No photos but managed two before getting told off. The others are from their website.

Cheers chaps yes amazing the pics miss all the writing on the pieces. Incredible the read all the ramblings on, thoughts, observations on some of them and the points made. Definitely a mixture on nuts, genius and off his head. So glad I saw them know its in HK but if it goes to the other Gasgonian's def visit as an amazing show.

I'm reading Patti Astors new book about her life and her Time at The fun gallery (where Haring and Basquait ,and other (as then) unknown artists and scene hangers on would go to hang out).That Madonna was a bit of a sort,what she needed to do to get on - she did !!

Madonna was definitely an operator, lol. From what I read, she didn't leave the relationship empty-handed either - she has several major Basquiat pieces in her art collection. I'm sure they look quite nice hanging next to her Warhols and Kahlos :-)

The Radiant Child is a great film. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Basquiat's meteoric rise to fame could have only happened in NYC at that specific point in time.

Sad what happened to him....the fame and pressure to produce ended up being too much to handle. He was so young too..
