Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Deleted on Apr 13, 2014 23:19:46 GMT 1, Hello Otto, While I understand your positionabhorrentspect it, I have watched threads and recently watched comments about the Black book GalleryI I feel these debates are bigger than us and I see no use in perpetuating anger while hiding behind a computer. Those who know me (Alan) and DirtyPilot, I hope have enjoyed the artwork we have brought to market. We love what we do and I think we do it well. We take this very seriously, but debating online about actions and language of artists is not our core strength. Feel free to reach out to us at our email if you have concerns, we are always available to have engaging conversations about art and artists, the art market, etc. I feel if you have beef with an artist, you should go to them. The NYC Old Skool graffiti culture which is our focus is an exciting, historical and no doubt full of imperfect humans. We try not to be judge and jury, we base our commitment to a level of talent and history and market conditions. We feel strongly that if it were not for the NYC graffiti writers of the 70's and 80's, out there risking it all to paint the trains, the Urban and street art movements you revere and collect may not exist as they do today. We wish you well. best- Alan He's still a grass and regarded as such by true street artists. His relentless bile is abhorrent and he is a one trick pony. Attempting to feebly attach himself to Banksy's BOTI in NYC was a pityingly odd grab for attention. Hats off to Otto for being vociferous in his opposition. And imo i can see no reason as to why Otto should waste his time attempting to engage and convert cope. Just one person's opinion.

And perhaps mention how being a police informant is also frowned upon in this community. Futhermore, please add, an odd attention-seeking photo, taken in his garage, whilst purporting to be a Banksy collaborative project is also widely viewed as laughable. Thank you.

I dropped following him after a twitter post which basically said "sup wid dees bitch hoes an there shit blow jobs ??" or something similar.
Such a pity he doesn't act like the true legend that he is.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by chichi carter on Apr 14, 2014 3:21:15 GMT 1, 2: I don't usually get involved when threads turn into train wrecks but... 'Prove it you homo off my fat dick you faggot'... Really. So many adjectives in the english language and he had to revert to the ones that are related to sexual orientation to put someone down. To think I almost bought one of the pieces he just released through 1xRun. Just to be clear, I am gay. Regardless of his role and place in graff history and the influence he has had on street art there is no excuse for using such language. I don't want to spread the hate but I am not about to waste a minute of my time contacting Cope2 in a non confrontational manner to smoke the peace pipe. It's 2014 for eff's sake. A minimum of common sense would do the trick. I am done here. And by here, I mean this thread. See you on other threads!

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Deleted on Apr 14, 2014 7:03:23 GMT 1, People in this forum are very funny !!!
They can write pages of hatred comments or how they feel about this and this... but NOT a single one of you (except Pretrusino) took time to let COPE2 knows about it (the guy is everywhere on FB, Twitter, Instagram, email, etc.)
If you have something you dislike strongly, let the guy knows instead of rambling here !! As dirtypilot said posting stuff on forum is easy... what about trying to speak to the artist himself ?
When JR released his Lynch print, I posted the FB link and asked people to comment directly on FB, only mmmike and me did as far as I know !
I said to Blek that is bike print was shittiest ever; and try to engage into a discussion with C215 about the fact he insults people publicly and calling them being racist, fascist, stupid, etc. was just bad and wrong... got banned and bashed by the two... they have strong opinion, I have mine... but at least, I don't do the pussy troll-talk here.... if artist is acting like a real asshole and discussion wasn't fruitful, only then you can troll
Agree, DirtyPilot is top notch gallery, great services, great stuff !! But agree also that these are crap Cope2 artwork.
Gud day

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Deleted on Apr 14, 2014 8:26:04 GMT 1, Sure we are all different !! So are shoes and artworks... really ? if shoes were custom-made by artists, sold at posh shops and hyped by PR and middle-men, I would indeed say "they are overpriced shitty shoe" and move on... But I wouldn't go next shop neither to tell how bad the previous shoe I saw were bad
I am just saying that before trolling and saying this and this here, they better speak to the person directly first, no ?
**************
1/ But then speaking about shoes, I never bought shoes in shop... I buy them in a huge second-hand market where they sell all the "out fashioned"/old stock crap sent to Africa because consumerists are driven by hype and stupid fashion.
2/ I indeed wrote to Louboutin asking them how they felts selling red-sole shoe to president Bashar's wife
3/ "shittiest work ever" - Well I haven't said it this way though I said "I am surprised that no a single person, from the artist to the galerist, came up and said it is bad".
Anyway peace !! In my opinion, these "shiny" bubble signs are bad

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by raindogs on Apr 14, 2014 9:27:59 GMT 1, I hate Cope2 public statements, I don't know him directly but everything leads me to think I would not consider him a nice person to drink a couple of beers with (but I don't have to do, he hasn't asked me!). On the other side I think his disrespectful, homophobic, racist comments are the result of a social environment where political correctness is not exactly a rule of life. I try to avoid to think that those comments are a way to pose as a gang character (this would be very sad). And finally I think we should consider art, despite the artist personality, if that art doesn't convey racist or homophobic messages. Even if I don't own pieces by him and I am not planning to buy anything, he is definitely an important piece of the history of graffiti and street art. I understand who doesn't feel comfortable in owning a piece by him, I don't understand why blacklisting a gallery that sells his art, when that art is not homophobic or racist.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Petrusino on Apr 14, 2014 9:37:59 GMT 1, I have not had any problems to contact Cope2; He not only wrote me that message, we exchanged a few other, that now I do not want to quote here; he shown to me friendly and polite,He do not offended me with words like those quoted here; "I've lived a really hard life trust me," he said; I think in this sentence there is contained his whole behavior, of those who had to build up a position in the street and had to keep it being always on the offensive. Boycotting an art gallery does not lead anywhere, offending him on a forum will not change his behavior. with the hate you get only further hatred. He comes from the "parental advisory explicit content" world, like on some CDs covers. The best thing, as many have already said, is to contact him directly and try to let him know how much you suffer for what he says; so maybe you can change him.
I like these signs ; I love it; I like the unique "imperfections" on each of them, give a true street work effect ; a fast writer pulls out the markers and throw up on a road sign before someone sees him, and then he go away in a hurry. If you are looking for precision and super clean, in this kind of work you will not find for sure. But if you want a little piece of graffiti street history in your home these are really cool and classic imo.
