Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by graffuturism on May 19, 2014 1:14:51 GMT 1, Maybe you can quote his Homophobic comments tweet just for balance?. Yes this is the thing RJ from Vandalog due to him painting the bowery wall and its affiliation to Keith haring and it being an important wall in a type of protest started Tweeting all of Copes Homophobic and degrading comments to his followers. He asked the question if this is OK and some called it a personal vendetta and others supported RJ. He has remained silent due to fear of running into cope but he felt it was the right time to say something. We retweeted his comments and stood with RJ and then Cope issued an apology the next day and now has painted the rainbow in support but I am not sure exactly how sincere he is or if it is that easy to just apologize on twitter and move on. In any other area of life someone who made these comments in public and consistently without a regard for those he was degrading would face some accountability but Its up to the galleries, collectors to make that decision I am just glad RJ stood up and said something although I think an article would have been better suited to deal with it.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by petro on May 19, 2014 5:32:59 GMT 1, I also had a conversation with a NYC gallery owner (rather not say who) about all this last week. He said that he was going to meet with COPE in person to help him understand the upset and make amends as he should. Maybe this is an effort in that direction?

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by pelle on May 19, 2014 7:57:14 GMT 1, Depends if he's sincere? One rainbow tag and a tweet or two don't mean a lot if you're going to continue using homo and faggot as a slur. Maybe he's trying to make amends? Maybe he's using this as a promotional tool, like when he hinted at the Banksy collab? Maybe he's simply taking the piss? Who knows. Not me. Maybe even Cope doesn't know. PR stunt to save a few gallery shows and events but if he stops using language that indirectly leads to kids being bullied and worse, then good.
This piece appears only a few days after KrauseGallery publicly states on RJ's Instagram their disappointment with Cope2's homophobic comments:

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Dr Plip on May 19, 2014 9:50:11 GMT 1, From how it appears, his offensive use of language/attitude has been pointed out to Cope a few times in recent years and he didn't make any attempt to change. But now it looks like it might negatively impact on his sales, he embraces the rainbow. I doubt he's had an epiphany any time recently. It's more likely that one of his handlers has "had a word".
I guess we'll see if his attitude has really changed. Someone will dis' him on instagram sooner or later.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Gard on May 24, 2014 10:50:15 GMT 1, Met these 16 year old graffiti guys at my opining last night. They commented on one of COPEs pictures on instagram that they were tired of his usual throw up, please do something new (maybe not that polite) this was his response. He has lost all the respect I may have had for him.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by graffuturism on May 24, 2014 11:15:44 GMT 1, Does it really matter how old the comment is?. It matters from the standpoint of his public apology and stance change, it doesnt matter in the longterm of things I guess, but we all know he has said these things before and I am just wondering how to take this recent comment. Some, most are skeptical of his apology and there are things you say that arent easily nor should they be forgotten with an apology. I wasnt happy with this recent article www.brooklynstreetart.com/theblog/2014/05/17/graffiti-and-street-art-show-some-true-colors-in-nyc/#.U4BwKi-wkao
As it tries to put him in a more positive light after his remarks and doesn't go into detail about the nature of what he has said. Me asking when is important to my understanding of his state of mind, if after its obvious he is full of it.

Sweet think there was a misunderstanding I was just saying I couldn't see the info about the hand finished prints, not bad things he said (and there where bad and very immature)

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by DREAMERS on May 29, 2014 12:34:15 GMT 1, Greetings,
I know Cope2 is not loved by many on this forum, but how much do you think a hand painted 24x25 limited edition of 30 prints is worth?
A ball park estimate would be great.
Thanks in advance!
