I've had to get a refund on my camera through ebay. Over £200 in postage and they didn't even manage to send the fucking thing.... or reply to my messages.

I had the same issue. They provided me with a Fed Ex tracking number. That tracking number never went live, they never responded to any messages over the period of a month and then I had to file a claim. When I filed a claim they provided me with a new Fed Ex tracking number that also never went live and eventually Ebay refunded me. WTF is wrong with them?

I think I might have found the answer but wanted to double-check - does anyone know if it's possible to claim back the VAT from 20% to 5% for this item?

I'm guessing 'no' going by this link:

and specifically this:

3. Heading 9703 does not apply to mass-produced reproductions or works of conventional craftsmanship of a commercial character, even if these articles are designed or created by artists.

Am I right?

I'd say they are original sculptures, made in an edition. Not reproductions or works of a "Commercial Character" (I think that means chairs, furniture, etc made by an artist but not "Art")
It would certainly be worth claiming they come under that Tax Code and see what happens!!
