But yes, I've seen some OG's up close and they're not as polished as her prints, so I get what you're saying Soam24. The Chem trail series in particular can look rough up close, so it just depends on what you like really. Each piece is also very different and unique. With her print runs being fairly small, and some hand-finished, it's not like your getting a print that is mass produced. The prints are more simple, whereas her originals offer a whole other level of complexities, that I feel are only truly appreciated if seen in person.

That's shooting for the stars! No way it goes for that, or close to it. Maybe half of the asking price. However, it's now a very small run as I think over half the run was damaged, so if you're a collector and want it, it's going to come at a higher price point.

Just got the PDF... Some of the large pieces on panels are nice but the smaller ogs on paper look like shit. Pretty disappointed as I would love a good smaller og.

Those small ones are leftovers from 2012. The newer big ones are very pretty...

I think this is right. Her prints feel very clean, often unique (as much as can be with prints, with some low edition sizes and differentiation), and seem to drop images that may become iconic over time. Very X is a perfect example - that may be one she's known for for a long time, even with later print releases. They're stripped down, in a good way.

Her paintings seem more variable, nuanced, and often layered - more than I expected from online photos.

I have both up on my wall, and they feel very different.

Agree some of the small stuff not great but couple of the big $7k and $9k canvases are gorgeous and look to have lots of depth.
Debating whether to bite bullet and get one...may be in a year's time I won't be able to afford a big Maya original work as all her prices seem to be going up pretty fast at the moment. Don't see her stuff in the 'For Sale' section here too often either....

Agree, the pieces on paper have been there for some time and are not her strongest, but the new pieces really are great ones. Unfortunately Toronto is a bit far away to have a look at them...wonder how much shipping would be. Also good to see there are a few Pangea prints left for people - really great handfinishing on those, have one myself

Multiverses I just went for 1.400USD on the eBay auction. A Chem Trails print ended a little over 100 GBP.

Chem trails as in the martha cooper x hayuk giclee? s**t, I would have grabbed that in a second at 100 gbp...

Also, bet that Hayuk would have ended even higher if the auction hadn't ended at 7am EST.

I think a mural on public property, that is out in the open for everyone to see is fair game for photographers and filmmakers, otherwise, where would you draw the line?

I think it’s only a problem when someone takes the image and reproduce it in any way for a profit, let’s say as a print or t-shirt. Or for example, like a couple of friends of mine recently found out, that images from their murals were used as decoration inside the Google Netherlands office. Not sure how that worked out in the end.
