Tristan Eaton 🇺🇸 Street Art • Toy Designer • Hollywood LA , by stavi on May 10, 2019 23:39:32 GMT 1, It's pretty obvious how it goes down. It's almost cliche by now. crappy parts of town become cool because of the graffiti and the artists that can rent cheap spaces to do their work. The first wave of hipsters make it cool and make it feel safe for normal people to come and spend their money.
While visiting the crappy neighborhood for an underground art show, a young couple decides that the area isnt so bad and it would actually be cheap to buy a house nearby. They pump some money into renovating and now the area doesnt look so bad.
A hip coffee shop opens and soon the original artists cant afford the huge space they were renting because people are willing to pay more in this new up and coming area.
Then comes the rich developer, who notices the change, and decides to buy a huge warehouse to convert it into overpriced apartments and slaps a Tristan Eaton mural on the side for good measure.

Tristan Eaton 🇺🇸 Street Art • Toy Designer • Hollywood LA , by Hairbland on May 11, 2019 20:51:39 GMT 1, But look at the pretty colors and random squiggles. It must be good! But seriously, art has been a major driving force behind gentrification. A lot of people have caught on and know how to ride the art wave into moneyville. I remember a story about a group of latino kids serving unofficial eviction papers (and a brick through their window) to a gallery trying to open up in their East LA neighborhood. Even they know what happens when the artists move in. Also, it worked. The gallery space closed within 6 months. galleries opening in gentrified areas seems like more of a symptom than a cause. And closing within 6 months more often than not the case.

The primary driver of gentrification is that a particular geographical region has a strong economy but benefits of that economic strength are not realized by a certain segment of residents in that region or an adjacent region. The coffee shops, galleries, and developers are just a by-product of that fundamental issue.

Tristan Eaton 🇺🇸 Street Art • Toy Designer • Hollywood LA , by The Blind Kid on Jun 24, 2019 23:04:00 GMT 1, Hey guys, big grail is enroute - need this wall space free'd up, and not one to clutter or hoard, so looking to sell this beautiful piece off. Framed in deep black frame, cost roughly $400 to frame as it's quite a large piece. Includes 3D glasses.
Looking for $1250 shipped, world wide. I think that should be enough to cover costs of packaging it up well enough to arrive securely in most countries. Plenty references on Fb/IG for good trades/buys/sales.

Tristan Eaton 🇺🇸 Street Art • Toy Designer • Hollywood LA , by robinbrl on Jan 3, 2020 18:59:01 GMT 1, Hello guys! I have been following UAA for a while but never went further. Well here it is. We need some space on the wall and the latest Tristan Eaton diptych is no longer included into our plans for our new wall.
The print was a release of 25 US only in mid 2018, and was deep black framed by Tristan Eaton himself (very nicely done with anti reflexive glass). The artwork is inspired from Eugene Delacroix painting (picture below). The print was shipped from NYC by a friend to Europe.
Looking for €1800/2000 including shipping, preferably in Europe as customs were already paid. I am happy to send more pictures of the art separately.
Cheers,
Robin

Add 150$ to have it delivered to NYC (two prints framed), and 450$ to bring it back from NYC in business class (couldn't ship that as a regular luggage right?) + customs in Europe. Cheers!

Tristan Eaton 🇺🇸 Street Art • Toy Designer • Hollywood LA , by bsharp on Dec 4, 2020 3:31:05 GMT 1, He's so corporate/sponsor based these days that I no longer want to collect anything from him. Good for him for making money, but if that's all you care about, then I have no interest.
With the intel CPU stuff and whatnot I see your point.
On the other hand, SpaceX reached out to him for this. If I was an artist and SpaceX asked me if I wanted to send something to space it would be very tough to say no to a project like that. Let’s not forget that Fairey did a Levi’s collab not too long ago.

Let’s not forget that Fairey did a Levi’s collab not too long ago. It's not just SpaceX or Intel. It's the universal monsters. It's the super bowl. It's the NHL team. It's Starbucks. tristaneaton.com/commissionsI enjoy to see an artist get commercial exposure with one off collaborations, but when the majority of your art output for 2+ years is just commercial, it shows who you are as a person and artist.
You're not wrong and raise a good point. I can't speak for his choice of projects, but I do think this collaboration in particular is unique and hard to turn down. I think he did a small show in NY of original work recently, but after COVID-19 I'd wager he changed plans and corporate money is probably more reliable than the odd mural here and there.

Tristan Eaton 🇺🇸 Street Art • Toy Designer • Hollywood LA , by jimmyjam on Dec 4, 2020 4:08:13 GMT 1, He was signed by ba-reps years ago and then went of with Howard to his new agency Atrbute.
I have worked with many photographers at ba reps. You don’t get anymore commercial than that. Most of his murals are commissioned by major corporations. Tristan is not a “street artist” but more of a commercial artist for the last decade or so.
He’s got agents setting everything up for him. He’s got a contract with them.
You can look on ba reps and artbute to see who’s signed to these agencies. Ron English is also represent by ba-reps. Anyone signed to these agencies are commercial artists.

That's been my feeling for a while. He's got a great style, but it just sucks to not see him pursue his own interests in between the other projects. As I said, that days more about the person and artist than anything else. Also can add the Everlast piece, the ufc fighter piece, etc...
He might not be able to do other work unless his contract with atrbute allows him to. Once you sign with an agency like these you somewhat have to play by their rules. Either way he’s pure commercial.

Tristan Eaton 🇺🇸 Street Art • Toy Designer • Hollywood LA , by J Kwon on Dec 4, 2020 6:26:31 GMT 1, Didn’t he start off as a commercial artist from the beginning? I’m pretty sure he did graphic design stuff for big corporate clients before doing street art.
Regardless of whether you consider him a street artist or graphics artist. The man is talented. Only time will tell if his art will go up in value, but then again I hope we aren’t just collecting art to eventually flip it.
I think his SpaceX collab is pretty cool because I got the opportunity to tour the facility with some friends that work there. I think owning an homage to history is pretty cool especially if SpaceX ends up being the first to take a person to Mars.
