Have You Read?, by closeencounters on Mar 11, 2009 21:22:06 GMT 1, 21 for me, particularly of note were Donna Tartt's Secret History and Ruiz Zafon's Shadow of the Wind, although the majority were well worth immersing myself in - gotta agree with Guy though, Moby Dick was a bit of a struggle for the most part, interspersed with moments of true genius that kept me going back for more.
just reading Cormac McCarthy's, No Country for Old Men - even if you've seen the film, read the book it's brilliant.

Anyone know this Bristol artist, by closeencounters on May 5, 2008 22:24:24 GMT 1, just seen that laser etched 5050 cuckoo clock deck, love it! been tempted by a couple of decks recently, is there a thread on here with some good pics with ideas for wall-mounting them, or does anyone have any suggestions of more places to find artist collaborations, there's a picture of a Jago deck on the Xynthetic site too from a couple of years ago, now that would be a great piece to own!

New Gallery Website - Blank No More, by closeencounters on May 5, 2008 20:25:48 GMT 1, looking forward to this launch, been a big fan of willo's design work since i found the sadly out-of-print adrenalin magazine way back when - wasn't aware of the new interpretation in the form of huck, so i'll be looking out for that next time i'm in borders!
dan's style is full of twists and turns too, really telling a story which is great. did anyone get his print from the If You Could print series at the start of the year? www.ifyoucould.co.uk/prints/08/jan.html

Banksy • Cans Festival • 2008, by closeencounters on May 5, 2008 19:10:09 GMT 1, superb show and event all round, absolutely manic down there today but well worth it - wouldn't mind getting back down there later in the week to have a better look at my own pace though.
anyone know how long their planning on keeping it open?

The three Tenors....I mean NW"s, by closeencounters on Apr 18, 2008 20:50:34 GMT 1, Gotta be Vandal for me. very iconic image. I like airways but too similar to the tma's for my liking.
have to agree with you there stender, though i haven't seen a really good picture of "Lifes Too Short" and from some of the above posts, it sounds pretty special...
just think the impact and execution of V is spot on and can't wait to get myself down to brp to see his work up close!

mmmm.... just bought a new print! (Pics), by closeencounters on Apr 18, 2008 20:03:30 GMT 1, Imbue, that's a really nice piece, great find - very different to his work over on ink_d - and you've had a great framing job done too!
would love to know how that floating was achieved... is it sandwiched between 2 sheets of glass or was some form of elfish magic applied?! is that a faile 'mermaid' propped up in the background too?

Paul Insect Dead Rebels, Sid, Elvis, Jimi,, by closeencounters on Jul 19, 2007 16:49:05 GMT 1, Wouldn't have minded a shot at a Sid but been away from my computer all day - my email hasn't arrived yet either so prob would have missed out anyway, think i might have to invest in a crackberry to keep on top of situations like this and prepare for the scrum down that will inevitably lead to an f5 breakdown come the next release from the big man himself!
The prospect of a Gold version however does sound pretty tasty!
