Best print of 2009, by raiden on Dec 27, 2009 12:28:29 GMT 1, Last year, Sheps 'Obama Hope' seemed like the winner of the thread for best 2008 print - with Eelus' 'Raven Haired' and Banksy 'Nola' up there as well.
I'd say this was a weaker year than others.
What would the forum say was the best print (no OGs) of 2009?

Best print of 2009, by Ottomatik on Dec 27, 2009 13:20:09 GMT 1, "...weaker year.." Are all of your post negative? Whatson don't have a beer in LA with Raiden/Debbie Downer. He's the same on EB. This was a great year for prints... We got MBW-Legend, Fairey-Elephant, Miss Bugs-Lady of the Land, Handiedan-I Love Snow White No. 3, Faile-Star Spangled Shadows, etc...etc...
My vote is for Mr. Brainwash Legend 09 (PINK)

Best print of 2009, by raiden on Dec 27, 2009 15:02:15 GMT 1, "...weaker year.." Are all of your post negative?
No they aren't two star member who joined in March and is infatuated with MBW. Go track down my posts about how important I think Banksy & Shep will be to art history (pretty damn glowing) or my recent positive remarks about El Mac or European Bob's work, or any of my posts in the new artists board, and you'd look foolish.
But super positive of you Otto to flame me straight out of the gates when I post a positive thread on the board that should invoke a lot of positive conversation.
Oh, and then you say "Whatson don't have a beer in LA with Raiden/Debbie Downer."
So wait, you're referencing that super positive post where I told Whatson that when he comes to LA I'd buy him a beer because I've on a number of occasions told him I like his work? So that's the guy you're calling a negative Debby Downer?
Nevermind the rest....
NOTE: In prior pre-edited versions I proceeded to tear into Otto for 20-30 paragraphs after this, but I decided to edit it out because 1) His subsequent post merited that I erase what I said 2) I was a bit tired & had come home from hanging with friends at a bar. 3) I think he got the point that I was annoyed at him taking swipes at me every chance he got, even on totally unrelated thread for criticizing MBW. 4) A lot of it was really below the belt - no pun intended given that his favorite work was MBW Legend Pink (09)

Best print of 2009, by Ottomatik on Dec 27, 2009 15:22:50 GMT 1, Actually Miss Bugs is my favorite. MBW does some crappy prints. However he does some excellent prints also. Yes Im 38. If you noticed, I've only been collecting prints for a year.(and as all can see on the link you provided) I would like to say I have a nice collection. As for how much it is valued..for myself, I would say I have some priceless prints. As for the $ amount it's worth, who cares, that's not why I collect. I buy prints I like, minus a few that I bought with the intention of getting other prints I want in trade. Now as far as MBW, yeah I like his work..but as a newbie to this world of prints, I'm forever finding new artist that I like. For example, this morning I discovered Kawasaki. (She's great!) as for the town I live in, it's rather cold and I am going to leave my "gloves on."

Best print of 2009, by cadeallaw on Dec 27, 2009 18:19:56 GMT 1, As a whole, I'd say that this year was weaker than last year, however there were some strong prints. A lot of artists seemed to have struggled this year with coming out with a print that matched the strength of their earlier work... Dolk jumps out at me the most regarding this point. Also, Fairey took a huge step backwards this year with a significantly weaker body of work and his actions regarding the lawsuit (submitting of false images in the discovery processs and also the destroying of others).
As far as positives are concerned:
Prefab77- Britannia:
kind of cheating as with all of the handfinishings, it acts more as an original on paper than it does a 'print'
Eine- Shutter Font
Love this print... as I have seen posted on this forum before, I honestly believe that everybody should have at least one Eine print framed in their abode, and this is one hell of an Eine print.
and Mr Brainwash- Tomato Spray
or 33rd Street:
Really like both of these prints... Good stuff.
Other Possibilities: I'm waiting to receive my Blue/Red Invader print... I haven't been this excited to receive a print since awaiting the arrival of the above mentioned Eine print:
"The paper is embossed with a matrix which simulates the tiles Invader famously uses, then it's printed with metallics on top."
Also... I'm awaiting the arrival of DFace- Riot. This is easily my favorite D-Face print in years.
Finally... I feel that it is also worth mentioning that Dave Kinsey and Conor Harrington both had incredible prints come out this year. ----------------------------------------------------------
Prints that I didn't purchase, yet still look nice: Nick Walker- Empire State Recent Parla giclees David Choe's 2009 turnouts I will also concur with the Bast- Paris mention.

The more I think about it, the more I disagree vehemently with this.
