yeah, i'm in training. you seen FPR drink? I need training to get to that level!
The more I think about it, you definitely got the best deal on the pre-price surge Dennings. That original is sweet and quite large i assume, as the prints are scaled down versions aren't they.

May I add that I still always try to maintain the necessary level of respectful decorom, required at a preview. Perhaps this is a timely reminder that although there may be free beer, we are ultimately there to appreciate the hard graft of some gifted motherfuckers. Perhaps this is a reminder to myself more than anyone else but I felt it needed to be said.
PS ... no spidey not an appriopraite moment for a silly photograph of my good self two sheets to the wind, I was only trying to impress the lovely hannah at the time and it wasn't actually in the preview but next door, thats my defence and i'm sticking to it. ;D

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by mcnuts on Jul 17, 2007 20:08:50 GMT 1, which one did you go for mcnuts? this one. cost me one of my favorite prints but its sorta neat to own an original not as dark as most of his stuff but icarus himself is still abit of a tragic figure. THe first piece i had wanted was gone but, funnily enough, my mrs liked this one more

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by Harveyn on Jul 18, 2007 20:07:58 GMT 1, Just realized my Icarus appears to be packing. Quite like it really. What do you think, definitely looks like a shooter to me? Maybe the AM referral is based on an influence? Seriously this guys work is fantastic and he deserves any success he gets from this recent hype. Maybe one of my cheaper buys this year but it certainly is one of my best!!! ;D ;D ;D

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by tadghostal on Jul 19, 2007 0:01:51 GMT 1, Wow. Truly missed the boat on this one. I can't tell you how many times I looked at those images and thought, "those are great. Better buy one someday."
A ton of artists get hyped on this forum. I'd anticipate that Dennings work will have a staying power that many of the other artists simply will not enjoy. Seeing those large images of all your canvasses, I am truly impressed. Congrats everyone.

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by Harveyn on Jul 19, 2007 12:22:54 GMT 1, Guys - For those who bought some of the Icarus themed paintings here is Guys answer to my question for his interpretation on my piece "The fall of icarus (let history be my judge)"
Quote "All of the Icarus work is an allegorical reference to Tony Blair and the mad bastard's predeliction for war. There are various direct references to him and different Icarus pictures. 'Let history be my judge' was one his more egomaniacal quotes, and my response to that was another painting called "Icarus (be careful what you wish for)" - hope that helps!"

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by manchestermike on Jul 19, 2007 12:56:32 GMT 1, And Hospital Doors
"It's a portrait of a really good friend who used to work with me in the hospital. Another creative soul stuck in the misery of an NHS job that they don't really want. She felt guilty for leaving because she knew that her post wouldn't be replaced and that everybody left would be put under more stress. That's how the NHS works now I'm afraid."

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by Harveyn on Jul 19, 2007 14:04:38 GMT 1, Hi Alderevens - I asked him direct and he emailed the response. Seems like a really friendly guy but he is heading off to Brittany to paint so I hope he will as accessible as he is today. He did state that his email would not work come September.

The print of Screaming Head is on cotton? Anyone got one yet? Can;t imagine it's that easy to frame?

You lucky, lucky b*stard! That is one hell of a piece - the colours and composition are amazing
I'm glad it went to someone that really appreciates his art, I just hope that one day I can land an original piece by Guy that is as jaw-droppingly gorgeous as that!

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by romanywg on Jul 21, 2007 8:18:00 GMT 1, It's funny, I posted a pic of that 6 weeks ago in the 'Your top 3 emerging artists' and it didn't even get a comment. Looks even better in your photos and makes me wish I had bought it there and then instead of waiting till I came back from abroad. Top 3 are:- Beejoir, Rene Gagnon,
Guy Denning.

It has no name so it might just have to be know as Typeface from now on......
PS - i never saw your original post. Wish I had now, could have slipped in before Carlito and got the screaming head original!!
