So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by a4mnt on Jul 16, 2007 15:54:31 GMT 1, Who snagged themselves an original before the rush?
Pics please.......
Got my Prospero's Storm canvass this morning, I'll actually get to see it once I've struggled with wooden crate through the London underground
Anyone buy any prints as well? All these still available from Red Propeller - a recommendation from Micallef must be pretty accurate.... :

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by a4mnt on Jul 16, 2007 16:20:59 GMT 1, I only threw up this thread for Mike and Carlito to gloat
I'm loving all his stuff, his really dark style is good foil for the lighter colours (though no less 'dark' images) of Micallef's stuff, I think.
He's been handed a pretty hefty workload for his future exhibitions and has had people from all corners of the globe requesting his stuff, so its good to see things take off for him, especially as his prices are still at a level most of us can afford.
Saying that....I'm loving this one, but i think i'm right in thinking that it almost doubled in price from Tunnadine when the rush kicked in.....
There's a great collage of the process of painting this pic on Guy's site : guydenning.org/guyorg/sitedocuments/archive/2003_archive/2003_pages/0309.htm

yeah they did. Leigh there is great to deal with, but they're not stupid. We spent last Sunday flooding her with enquiries and on Monday the webpages were all POA.....or they're maybe priced again now but definitely a good 60%+ more than before. Supply and demand isn't it. She let me have the steel canvass I wanted at the original price though. ;D

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by Harveyn on Jul 16, 2007 17:48:23 GMT 1, Hi Guys
Anybody know what the original prices were for the "Screaming Heads" currently up for sale on ebay? I am guessing that the auction frenzy that is about to take place is mainly amongst forum members (pity!!)

Check out Guys website, he's not new to selling his work. The scream pieces were priced at ยฃ80 originally.

Also, Jon from SOS sorted my Scorn Death card which I paid for a while ago. Was lucky enough to get one in the second wave as they must have had a few left. Even luckier to get this number ;D

do you wanna swap? i never did like being number 1
I was number 179 in the charts once! Which incidentally is the number that the Spice Girls horrificly chart in their nightmare in the Spice world movie....errr...apparently.
I'm very happy, though a little worried as its not hidden behind glass (too used to prints!). Its very light and quite petite at about 40x50cm, but i will be appreciating its small size when i look for a space for my 1mx1m on steel.
Loving the thickness of the oils and the way that subtle colour appear when you view from different angles and different lights. I just like the fact that i know the artist worked direct on that canvas and there will never be another one. I guess thats the magic of originals? I wouldn't know as its my first one.

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by Harveyn on Jul 16, 2007 21:12:53 GMT 1, You have to say that the ยฃ410 to ยฃ485 that all 4 went for looks steep when they were ยฃ80 just over a week back. But saying that I really loved 2 of them and I think his work is set to soar. Not much to pay for an original (even if on paper) if reaches the heights I expect him to reach. Next exhibition in October will be worth watching out for.

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by alderevans2007 on Jul 16, 2007 21:12:59 GMT 1, Forum hype has a lot to do with the prices. IMO However, I think his work is amazing and is worth this kind of money. I guess we will see when he brings out some more works. If he goes from strength to strength, then these prices may seem dirt cheap in the future. If he brings out poor work (which I can't see happening) then maybe the hype would have been for nothing.
This is his blog ;D:

I have emailed him explaining the workings of the forum (I was very respectful)

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by romanywg on Jul 16, 2007 21:15:30 GMT 1, Personally I just think itยดs outrageous that a gallery would do that. They were all 80 quid last week, get a few hundred calls, guessing, then stick them up on the bay!?

Yep... total shit. I wouldn't buy anything from them no matter what the price now. Guy's work is incredible... but I think he needs to give serious consideration as to who represents him and sells his work.

I suppose it is fair enough to bump up your prices after increased interest. They are a gallery afterall. But to flog them on ebay like that.....

So who bought a Guy Denning then?, by dave313perry on Jul 16, 2007 21:23:28 GMT 1, Yup didnt realise the original price was 80squids so i hope they have received loads of hate mail!! a couple of grand might seem a nice little earner but a tarnished reputation is no good in the long run and people will remember this unprofessionalism in the near future! hope they read this forum and realise what a mistake it was!!! T**TS! no doubt Guy will get light of these recent happenings and hopefully pull out of there, and as his work soars to new heights they can sulk in their own stupidity!!!
