El Mac ๐บ๐ธ Mexican โข Chicano Culture โข Miles MacGregor, by nobokov on Jun 30, 2021 6:36:01 GMT 1,
El Mac Ixtaccihuatl, 2009 Serigraph, Ed. of 75 30โx30"
The print is a depiction of a classic theme in Mexican poster art: Popcatepetl and Ixtaccihuatl, but rendered in my own brushwork style for a bold, strange, and somewhat more modern feel. I tried to make the image as powerful as possible by only using a rich orange-red color along with the almost calligraphic black brushwork.

Kara Walker - Limited Edition, by nobokov on Jun 29, 2021 17:53:02 GMT 1,
Kara Walker - Limited Edition
Kara Walker (b 1969)
Untitled, 2018, from the series The Gross Clinician Presents: Pater Gravidam
Edition for the Kunstmuseum Basel
Edition of 75 + 15 AP
Photolithograph, four colors, on Rives BFK paper
27.5 x 38.1 cm
Numbered and signed
The limited edition that Kara Walker has produced exclusively for the Kunstmuseum Basel reproduces an untitled drawing from a 38-part series acquired by the museum in 2019.
The series interweaves a range of themes in dense compositions:
Americaโs Founding Fathers, the exploitative use of African-American bodies by medical schools, police violence against Blacks and the Black Lives Matter movement. Exuding an โOld-Masterlyโ charm yet anchored in the present, the series is executed in variety of brown towns on high-end paper.
One copy of Kara Walkerโs edition is on display at the museum shop in the Neubau. The copies destined for sale are expected at the Kunstmuseum Basel in July 2021.

Gerhard Richter ๐ฉ๐ช Abstract โข Contemporary Art โข New Relea, by nobokov on Jun 27, 2021 17:44:41 GMT 1, That was very cheap for a signed Richter. It's insane how much people are paying for unsigned richter prints. Maybe this is an example of how poor images just don't sell, even when it's from a famous artist. His drawings and ink work are just unappealing and not great examples of his talent.

To flip or not to flip, this is the flip, by nobokov on Jun 27, 2021 17:37:23 GMT 1, Isn't street art dead? It's just a collection of commercialized artists and pranksters who aren't talented enough to make it in the fine art world. It would be nice if this forum discussed emerging and contemporary artists. But then again, any artists discussed here would become overly hyped and end up on ebay or submitted to tate ward once an email order confirmation is received. If this were a forum for art discussion, release information and for sale posts would be banned.

CHRISTO, by nobokov on Jun 15, 2021 3:26:41 GMT 1, Heres a link to their new catalogue raisone www.artbook.com/9783775748834.html
Be careful buying from Alpha137 gallery. They stole a picture of my Christo edition and posted it on their website and Artsy listing and didn't remove it after I notified them. It's likely someone on UAA.

Aya Takano ๐ฏ๐ต Japanese Painter โข Superflat โข Manga, by nobokov on Jun 12, 2021 4:41:26 GMT 1, A lot of complaining but no one's offering their opinion on how they think a release should be handled. You shouldn't work for free No, that's a cop out. I think it's because you know it's a game that can't be won. There will always be unhappy people no matter how you handle a popular release. Complain about prices, edition size, favoritism, bots ,flippers, lotteries..... it'll never end.

Aya Takano ๐ฏ๐ต Japanese Painter โข Superflat โข Manga, by nobokov on Jun 11, 2021 19:57:37 GMT 1, Just as proof that Christian is full of shit, can he explain why some collectors received more than one Haroshi sculpture? Heโs trying to save face on the forum with this act when all he ares about is profit. Just like the Javier release, AA only focuses their attention on VIPs and big spenders not the average collector they claim to support. Itโs ironic because if you look at their early releases, they only got to where they are now because the average Joe decided to purchase from them. Current my Haroshi is in transit and I was still offered a pre-order for my Javier just FYI (order confirmed). On top of that I was also sent the purchase link for the actual release, not that it mattered because there were only 10 prints available. Iโll pose one more point...AA talks about being against reselling and protecting their artists, but I know at least 4 different people who received their pre-order link who sold it for someone else to have access. All of which have confirmed orders. Clearly AA isnโt checking what names were associated with each link. ๐ The word is already spreading among artists to stay away from avant arte... Why?

AVANT ARTE JAVIER EDITION- Ed of 70, by nobokov on Jun 10, 2021 16:41:39 GMT 1, This release was the motivation I needed to focus solely on originals. Originals are overrated. Prints are the best medium for artistic expression.

AVANT ARTE JAVIER EDITION- Ed of 70, by nobokov on Jun 10, 2021 16:33:34 GMT 1, What's with all the tears about buying luxury goods? They should be able to sell however and to whomever they want to maximize profit while keeping regular customers motivated to purchase in the future. Setting the price high deters hamburger flipping but there's only so much an art dealer can do as far as vetting is concerned. They keep going higher and higher, but there seems to be no limit to what rich idiots and flippers will spend on prints. I'm glad there's a segment of people who concentrate on buying high priced prints as it keeps them out of the market for unique artworks.

Counter Editions Katherine Bernhardt 8th & 15th April, by nobokov on Jun 10, 2021 0:32:49 GMT 1, And your reply says more about YOU...who gives a turd where she graduated from or what degrees she has? I'm supposed to be impressed by that? Some of the "best" and most collected artists on the planet never went to "art school" or graduated with degrees. (Many of them collected here on UAA.) No number of degrees is going to make me believe that KN's work is anything more than "decorative bullshit." And as for what "collections" her works can be found, that's utter nonsense as well. There are hundreds of second rate artists whose works are in certain "collections" because their works are donated to the organization....it doesn't mean that the Board of the Carnegie decided she was of such extraordinary talent, that she "deserved" to be in their collection. As for the fact that she's had shows around the world and been painting for 20 years says nothing more than she has good management. Thomas Kincaide had shows around the world for many years, Hunt Slonem is having shows around the world. Get back to me when legit museums are having "retrospectives" for this crap and then maybe, I'll reconsider. An artist having works sell at auction and other places means absolutely nothing except there are enough people out there who like what she paints or buy on speculation. All of this work is gonna wind up for pennies on the dollar in a few years just like the Murakami editions are right now. The contemporary art world is filled with artists that (the people behind them) are trying to make "a thing." And opinions are like a**holes...everybody has one. Mine happens to be that it's absolute crap and you may have an opinion that is completely the opposite of mine, but don't ever think that someone's "educational background" or collection their work is in is justification for their work being "good" or "worth it." There's no accounting for why some artists "make it" and others don't......just ask "the Mr.s"...Brainwash or Doodle...both creating (in my opinion) unadulterated crap, and yet, sold out shows around the world, works selling for insane prices at auction......it doesn't mean shit except if YOU love it and can afford it, then you should buy it. If it increases in value, then great. If not, you've spent what you could afford and spent the time enjoying it. Enjoy your works by KB, but no information you could possibly present is going to make me like the work or believe that you have justified it's "value." And that's the way the art world should be. No one should be "convinced" to buy a work of art. And your reply says more about YOU...who gives a turd where he graduated from or what degrees he has? I'm supposed to be impressed by that? Blok ๐ฌ๐ง, by nobokov on Jun 8, 2021 22:39:40 GMT 1, massively derivative and WEAK... try harder, its a damn shame that some people think they can make money by churning out feeble doodles and flogging them on sites like this, its more of a shame if they succeed at it! C'mon guys show some better taste, be more rigorous in your judgement! You have to work hard to make decent art! Apologies if English is not your first language but please ..its...it's.

New Brian Calvin Print, by nobokov on Jun 8, 2021 15:34:15 GMT 1, They were never available. The link resolved to the general link, which was always there. I refreshed it non-stop from 5 before 10. They were sold out the second they went live, so the only conclusion to draw, given that they pre-sell to VIPs is that they were pre-sold well before the drop time. I suspect some time last week, so no one ever had a chance. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link this morning and they were still available. Who knows how many though
